Macpac Men's Tasman Jacket $69 (RRP $249.99) + $10 Delivery ($0 with $100 Order / C&C) @ Macpac

1320

Product Description
The Tasman Jacket is an outdoor lifestyle jacket that you can wear over multiple seasons. Unlike a lot of our lifestyle jackets, we've designed this without insulation and instead designed it with a midweight organic cotton ripstop fabric with durable box stitch detailing.

The hood and hem are both adjustable and mesh lined venting at the front and the back allows for some air circulation. The pockets are nice and deep with zips for storing valuables.

    Is this waterproof at all?

    • Given there is a cotton lining I would not be wearing this in wet weather.

  • If I buy this, do I have to support the Melbourne Demons Football Club?

Not sure I'm understanding this jacket. It doesn't keep you warm. And it doesn't keep you dry.

      And it doesn't look great.

      (I suppose that's why it's on sale?)

    great, bought thanks OP

  • Looks weird and isn't waterproof?

  • +6

This is super heavy. Weights 1kg. Too much for an outdoor jacket. It’s also not water resistant as it’s mostly cotton. It’s like wearing a not so cool hoodie. Just my personal opinion though

    • This + not being waterproof makes it a pretty mediocre outdoor jacket.

      • +2

It's essentially a windbreaker. Extremely good for chillier winters. Also, cotton is more breathable than g/core-tex.

    • For 69 buxs, it’s cheap as chips. Plus it’s my fav number. You can wear it with sweater haha

      • +3

        It's a pointless jacket.

At best it's a jersey thing with an huge neck guard thing with a hoodie.

At worst its a jacket that doesn't help you warm, looks ugly and weighs a ton.

Ok they're both bad points. There's nothing good about them, just the name value and Macpac laughing at you.

  • OOS?

  • Only Green In XXL & S remaining.

As ozbargain seems to have increased in negative Nellys lately, I find a can't trust a lot of the negative comments on deals like this lately.

So, sadly, I decided to look into this product deeper myself.

This is what I came up with. Curious what the Neg Nelly have to say about this :

It's more of a lightweight windbreaker or outer shell rather than a thermal jacket.
If warmth is a priority, layering with a fleece or an insulated mid-layer would be necessary.
If looking for a mild-weather wind-resistant jacket for casual wear, commuting, or light outdoor activities, it can still be a good option.
However, if you need something for rainy or cold conditions, you’re better off with a waterproof rain jacket or an insulated coat instead.

TLDR: Not living in 4 seasons in 1 day places like Melbourne, and need a Jacket on standby in case of sudden rainfall (especially in warmer humid environments) then this looks like it woukd fit the task.

Oh.. And yes.. The quality of this brand has received some feed back that it's not as good as it use to be. But given the discount price here, that might balance it out I guess.

  • I know what you did last summer

  • +1

    Sold out unfortunately

  • I guess not good for short people, right?

  • What's the point of a cotton jacket?

  • Looks like an RM Williams waterproof jacket, except it's neither of those things.

  • Fitting is the same as their puffers. Should've gone S instead of M. Will return to Perth CBD store this arvo for anyone was chasing the blue.
