Doorbell Subscriptions Recommendations Please

Hi there

Wanted to ask about recommendations for getting a video doorbell.

Do you have to pay a high monthly subscription for it? Willing to pay a little more at purchase if it means they don't have such a high fee.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks

Do you have to pay a high monthly subscription for it?

Went Eufy, local storage, no ongoing fees.

Just get one that works with the home base 3 and does 24/7 recording.

    • which model eufy? i had a tapo one which became faulty after 6 months

  • Or get the Ring/Google with subscription and cloud back up for x amount of days, incase your house burn down.

Duh why need to pay? I guess OP also pay annual fee for her his credit card

    • cloud storage ain't free chief

  • Wyze detection isn't as good as Ring, but you don't need the subscription, and if you want the subscription to have events saved to the cloud for two weeks and AI detection it's really cheap. Otherwise it just tells you there was motion. I'm unsure of their newer products that have detection built into the camera if it requires subscription, you'd think not.

  • Back in my day you bought a doorbell, you had a doorbell. We didn't need to subscribe to anything. It just dinged or donged whenever it was pressed in the right way.

Back in the day, someone is always home to answer the Ding

        or the Dong ;)

    • I had some guy dump old car parts and oils on the nature strip across the road.

The dumbass was in his work ute, so with the help of the video from my doorbell, he was easy to track down.

      • +100 social credit points, good citizen

  • I have Eufy from a previous deal, no subscription and works well after a year.

E340 Dual Camera, should be T8214T11

If you can get Ethernet cabling, PoE supported Reolink or so would be better and you can save 24x7 video locally with a NVR
