    4500+ hrs in the game.

i hate every minute of the grind.

  • What would I need to currently play the top level? Don't care about story

All of it. And all of your time. Don't.

  • I own a weird collection of some of these DLCs spread across Steam, Epic, PSN and played it sometime in 2020 apparently according to Bungie and lastly for like 10 mins on PSN in 2024, which must have been for some promotion. There's weird account linking, cross saving setups and it's gonna eat 140+gb on my ssd. Soooooo, is it worth it in 2025 as a mainly solo player. The gunplay was great from what I remember, but the loot and so many types of resources, confusing levelling progress, convoluted blegh pulp sic-fi story didn't interest me at all. Can I enjoy this is a drop in and kill some stuff for half an hour at a time to work towards better gear to kill bigger stuff type game? FPS Diablo?

Nope, don't do it. It's an absolute mess. Just play the free version and do some "Vanguard" missions if that's all you want. No need to spend money

      • I often get put off by the amount of expansions and how hard it is to get friends all on the same page cross platform, but is it not at least fun?

        • To be honest, destiny 1 was the most fun for me - it was more about pure gunplay with considered enemy placement in large combat arenas. It's been going on so long now and they've added so much (gameplay mechanic-wise) that the combat encounters are so lazer focused on dealing huge damage to large amounts of enemies in a small arena - managing all your abilities, ultimates, grenades, synergies and exotic weapon/armor perks, it's not really about gunplay anymore and that's the part that sucks for me. There's great gunplay there but the game isn't really about that anymore, and it's very difficult if you don't use all those extra things and just stick with guns.

Which isn't to say you wouldn't like it, it's just not for me anymore… It's kind of like doom eternal - which I personally don't like as much as Doom (2016). It's just too hectic and about movement and ammo / ability management. I prefer games like Witchfire, Black Mesa, Halo campaigns, where you need to be more methodical.

Correct me if I am wrong but these DLCs don’t actually give you the story/campaign right because they removed that content?

If so ironic title. I’m only interested in playing through the story initially

    • Every dlc gives you the story except year 2 (forsaken) only gives you select missions, not the while thing, and year 1 missions mostly dont exist.

You do not however get most of the seasonal stories from each DLC, just the actual expansions campaign itself.

To add to this, witch queen, lightfall, and the final shape all have true campaigns. Beyond Lights and Shadow Keeps are more pseudo campaigns with some in game collection type steps.

  • I think the price is wrong in the title. When I click the link, price is $48.61
