Hills Portable 120 Clothesline Surfmist $99 (RRP $229) C&C/ in-Store Only @ Mitre 10

Solid build that should last. It folds really easily too and comes with an attachment to hang it on a door .

  • Solid build….

Good saving on the RRP, but looks a bit flimsy, especially the front two legs.

Can say this thing is solid- very hefty. Won’t fall over in wind.

It is DIY assembly so you have to string it yourself.

Some might see this as a bonus - means you can replace them when they begin to sag which does inevitably happen.

Agree but my tip is string it, leave it overnight and retighten as it does loosen.

Personally the space between the strings is narrow but vouch for how solid it is

Agree that the breaking down/flattening is a PITA so I leave it up as well.

  • stuff Mitre 10 got burnt last year with their other clothes airer ending up not being available after waiting 2 months.

Got the hills 170, but three years later still going strong in the backyard exposed to the elements.. folding it up & down seemed the fastest way to break it so it's permanently sat outside

I have the Hills 170 which is very similar to this one. It's excellent, albeit a little stiff to fold up. I move it under cover when it rains and three years later it's still like new.

These ones are better and cheaper, good quality and delivered

    • 150cm vs <60cm wide, wouldn't say it's better…

      • The m10 one is flimsyAF

        • I haven't used it personally, but others are commenting that it's sturdy.

Either way, one can handle sheets and the other can't

        • No it’s not. These hills ones are really good

but that's not a portable clothesline, its an indoor airer. The main differences are:
      - metal rungs vs clothesline - you generally won't be able to use regular pegs easily due to the size of the rungs but can hang items on it.
      - indoor vs outdoor use - outdoor clothelines need to be made from corrosion resistant metals and uv resistant plastics.
      - Span length - to dry sheets etc. you need a long span to fit. clothelines have this advantage
In terms of durability and functionality, I think your A frame style airer seem a more durable design compared to other airer styles with small flimsy stands, While I can't speak for the quality of this portable clothesline, I'd expect an outdoor portable clothesline would need to be able to withstand some wind and I did notice it had a 'lifetime' warranty, though I'm not sure what that's worth.

I've had this one since Oct 2022, still as-new

I got it on TGG Commercial for $54.

    • how wide is it? can it fit 2 shirts on 1 rod?

      • Yep I fit two shirts across one rod. Unextended length is slightly over 100cm. I usually use the sliding out ones for briefs, shorts, or even wife's shirts. It feels like they can't take as much weight, though they've held up well regardless. The little peg things are useful for undies and socks.

I got this in the last Ozbargain deal. Been working great, can't fault it so far. Just make sure you pull the line tight when installing the line for the first time.

Very handy. Move it wherever I want. Pack/fold it away when guests come over. Personally prefer this over a fixed line.
