Citizen CA4505-21X Eco-Drive Chronograph - 43mm Full Lume Dial $279 ($254 w/ Signup Bonus) Delivered @ Starbuy

320

If you're a fan of full-lume dials and stealth cases this may pique your interest. It's a bit on the larger side at 43mm, I haven't been able to find the L2L measurement so not sure how it'll sit on smaller wrists. Lug width is 22mm so keep this in mind if you want to swap it out, but there should be plenty of options available online.

It's been cheaper before but that was nearly 3 years ago and we've seen a steady upward trend in prices lately. (If you want a good explanation of how prices are being affected in the U.S. with recent tariffs the Mark of Long Island Watches made an excellent video on the subject. This is sure to have a flow-on effect around the world.) You can also take advantage of Starbuy's $25 signup bonus with a new email or first time buyers.

26 units available at the time of posting.

  • I've read mixed reviews for Starbuy, what are people's experience with this online store?

    • +4

      mixed reviews for Stsrbuy

Never heard of them but StarBuy are excellent in my experience.

      Edit: dang, nice ninja edit.

      • +2

Would be nice to know where these mixed reviews are rather than just saying it, especially when you're talking about a store with a very good reputation on Ozbargain.

I found a negative review that a return was made difficult but the reply from StarBuy was we were closed over Xmas/new year that's why we didn't reply.

            @MS Paint: Lol that's a good one.

          • @MS Paint: I had flawless return experience with them. but come to think of it I am not sure I got my money back 🤔 lol

I refer you to my experience of an undelivered watch and Deepak basically was no help.

He took no responsibility. I posted details on here several times.

I was a previous loyal customer with them many times.

Be prepared if there's a problem to get no support.

          Details here:

          • @gadgetguy: So to summarise, Starbuy delivered the watch and there was a signature for collection but this is Deepaks fault because you didn't actually receive it.

Did you find out who signed for it? Was it sent to your place or somewhere else?

            • +3

@WatchNerd: No that is not the case.

The watch was not delivered (we had video evidence, as a I stated). The "signature" was a squiggle, the address was my address. The responsibility for delivery (and any issues with his chosen delivery partner), including it being lost or stolen along the way lies with Starbuy.

I started an investigation with Auspost. Deepak told me to drop it and he would lodge his own and after weeks of chasing him, he stopped replying and dropped the matter.

Like I stated several times, everything is fine, as long all goes well but I'll let people draw their own conclusions on Starbuy's "support" when it doesn't.

                • +3

@WatchNerd: I do believe someone at Auspost stole it - but that's Starbuy's responsibility to resolve, not mine.

I have purchased around 4,5 watches from them. They always arrive quick and are very professional on sales side.

    • It's been great with them. Bought 3 or 4 watches .

    • Agree that I've never had a problem with Starbuy myself, and according to my (sad looking) credit card statement I've bought rather more than a few watches from them.

I'd have to go digging but I've seen a couple of negative comments here on OzB but they seem to be of the variety "Australia Post lost the parcel and can't find it, therefore Starbuy sux!!"

If you are referring to my experience (above) that's not an accurate representation of events.

        • Not a reference to your situation specifically, I have seen other generalist remarks along those lines with no further context. Unfortunately, when you're in the business of sending things through the logistics chain there there will be a time when (not 'if', definitely 'when') things don't go right and you'll attract negative attention. I have firsthand experience of being on both sides of the argument and I can say from the seller's perspective it's always difficult to meet the expectations of a customer who is already unhappy with the way things are going, and it compounds things when you need to depend on a third party for fixing it. That's not an attempt to diminish your own experience, it's just a fact. We only know the story thus far from your perspective, we have no knowledge (nor are we likely to) of how it unfolded for the seller or the reasons it appears to remain unresolved, and until we do then any attempt to reconcile the two is pure conjecture.

It's unfortunate what occurred for you and I hope I will not find myself in a similar situation, all I can say is thus far I've had zero problems with purchasing from Starbuy. The only time I did have an issue (not related to shipping) the staff at Starbuy were quick to respond and resolve the problem.

You'll notice that when I put this deal up I also posted the first comment with alternative sellers of the same model. I did that on purpose, so anyone who doesn't want to deal with the original seller has another avenue to explore. I highly recommend Watson's as they're always happy to entertain a price match request, even if they can't always match it, but you'll get outstanding service from them.

@Chazzozz: Fair enough, plenty of people on here will say "I've only had a positive experience with Starbuy" (I was one of them!). Until you don't.

It's at that point that their true levels of service come to light.

I've purchased from there 5 times now, never had an issue but all my deliveries have been straightforward too

    • Bought a Seiko from them at a good price and received it no fault.

  • Any good website that sells Seiko watches?

  • I've had nothing but a positive experience with Starbuy and many concur with that statement…
    Unfortunately s**t happens mate.

  • Good price for those after this abomination.

  • I love eco drives, have three myself but couldn't bring myself to buy this until I read your comment.. Yes that's what I think too. Something off putting about this, maybe the black case, green dial, black strap with white lines.. Just doesn't cut it for me. Maybe it'll look a lot better with a stainless steel case and Matt finish black strap or even a rubber strap. However as it's sold stock, it indeed looks an abomination.

  • It's been cheaper before

No, this model has never been posted. The closest one in the link provided is CA4505-12E, a black chrono with black dial, no full lume to be seen.

In fact, this is the first time CA4505-21X has appeared on OzBargain. I know because I searched.
