On sale is the new flagship Lenovo Legion Y700 2025 tablet which is an excellent choice for gaming due to the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU that ranks as the 6th best mobile processor that's paired with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 fast storage. The 8.8" display is bright with vibrant colours and the perfect size, as it's bigger than a phone and not too bulky like a 10-12" tablet.

Straight up I recommend checking out ETA Prime's showcase of the tablet showing off the display, general usage and performance in gaming. Like other tablets it's good for media due to the high res display and Widevine L1 DRM for Netflix HD. Another big highlight is that there's two USB-C ports with one supporting USB 3.2 + Display Output and another with support for charging/bypass charging.

Featuring Android 14 with ZUI (support for 3 major upgrades), 8.8" 2560x1600 165Hz IPS display with 500nits brightness, Dolby Vision, HDR10 & 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, 12GB or 16GB LPDDR5 RAM, 256GB or 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU, Adreno 750 GPU, 6550mAh battery, 68W PD fast charging, JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos, inbuilt mics, 13MP + 2MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

AU$ based on current Mastercard rate and GST inclusive.

As for downsides it's worth mentioning there's no microSD card slot or GPS. While it lacks a 3.5mm audio jack the addition of another USB-C port allows for USB-C headphones, while charging our using display out. Otherwise there's always Bluetooth connectivity.

To enable Google Play, go to Settings > App Management > 3 dots top right > Google Basic Services > Turn on
Then download Google Play from the Application Center or sideload an apk yourself. If the English characters and spacing look off you can change the font to fix the issue, as shown here.

For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

Straight up I recommend checking out ETA Prime's showcase

Dude made an error and refused to correct it - unlike the 2023 Y700, this 2025 does not feature a micro SD slot.

    • +1

That would involve removing the video and uploading it again. Hardly a reason to avoid the video completely when it shows everything else right.

Besides my post mentions that there's no microSD card slot.

Nothing against you Clear. He could have pinned any of the numerous comments pointing this out.

      • Off topic, and I can take this elsewhere, but the Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022 CN version doesn't work with the latest OTA Global ROM.

I guess everyone knows this, but it's a reminder that flashing another ROM, official or otherwise, carries risks. I'll need to somehow go back to the CN ROM.

        • Yeah they've region locked them now and you either rollback, go to ZUI or modify the image itself to think it's a CN ROM. I know there's been discussion on Reddit and xda-developers over it.

          • @Clear: That's not cool. Oh well. I guess I'll be buying AU stock in the future.

            • +3

@BadGiraffe: All the good Lenovo tablets these days are ZUI anyway. After using both ZUI and global stock Lenovo I prefer ZUI.

ETA Prime has never shown any negative reviews.

Just treat his videos as an in-depth showcase of the product instead of a real unbiased review.

Also, other Youtubers wouldnsimply use the built-in video editor to add comments/overlays for correction without the need to reupload the whole video.

        • There's a reason I didn't call it a review, because as you've mentioned he only does showcases and that's exactly what his video is doing. Shows you how it looks, gives a run down and shows its performance on some popular titles.

Also you can't add overlays/text to videos anymore. Instead you have to add subtitles and hope people have CC turned on.

Triples as a switch, windows and retro game emulator

    Deal ends today.

Not 8". This is a unicorn when it comes to small Android Tablets, nothing else has the specs this has at this size.

    • -2

Samsung tablets are the king of tablets. People negging you probably don't have one

      • +4

Or perhaps because of what heef said is true? 11" is far from being close to 8.8" - it's a different form factor and target audience. High end <10" tablets have only resurfaced in the last couple of years. Had this been the 12.7" Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2025 deal, then 100% the Galaxy Tab S9 is a better deal at a very similar size.

  • I managed to get the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 3 for just roughly $140 more. If you dont want to deal with the google play setup and woud like Australian warranty i would reccomend d trying to chat with the lenovo sales reps to see if they can also provide you with a similar deal.

    • That's pretty good for a local deal. For some reason they always give the global releases slower charging. The CN ROM will do 68W and the global ROM does 45W - I can't see any other differences besides the Android skin between them.

    • May I ask how you managed to get it as low as $140 ish? I reached out to their support team, and they told me that such a low price is not possible. Thanks in advance!

      • Roughly $140 more than this price. So $760ish.

        • Thanks that makes sense

I bought the 2023 version (16/512 variant) when I was in Hong Kong - would recommend if you aren't super heavy into gaming to consider the older model instead. I think it's sub 300USD with coupon codes if they work(before GST), a good amount more storage and RAM.

All the new Lenovo Y700's are region locked as far as I am up to date on the XDA posts, so you can't RSA to the Global Firmware anymore. That being said, the Chinese ROM is actually pretty good and not that many weird things under its English mode - a lot of the Lenovo bloat can be manually uninstalled.

    • It would be great to get a deal on the old model. Maybe someone in this thread can recommend a good seller.

  • Is 8.8" really that much bigger than a phone to fill a niche? When would you use this over your phone? I can see a 11" or bigger tablet being usable on the coach or in bed watching something.

I see the photos in reviews. So it's for gaming attaching to controllers like a switch?

It's all about the ratio. While a phone might be nearly that size on the diagonal measurement, realistically your 16:9 tv show is going to be smaller due to pillarboxing (an iPhone is 19.5:9 these days). Same applies if you are emulating game systems that don't support 4:3 and 16:9 widescreen as an option.

For reference, the Y700 is 16:10, which is a very comfortable ratio for both 4:3 and 16:9 content.

  • +1

Just curious what are you guys using your tablets for?

    • These are very good for emulators.

  • +1

Very nice mini pad, due to no TF slot, I bought a 512G version. No similar andriod product in the market, very satisfied.

  • +1

Does this tablet have any sort of pen input support?

Edit: I see an option for a Lenovo pen.
Anyone have experience with a similar tablet regarding the latency compared to an iPad mini or a kindle scribe?

    • +2

Recently started using the 2023 vers + Lenovo Pen. Been using for handwriting/note-taking and haven’t noticed any latency issues so far.

    • Better off with a Samsung. They come with a pen

      • Samsung don't make a 8" tablet unfortunately. I'm basically looking for a digital notebook

        • yea options are limited to lenovo, xiaomi or apple (bleh). that being said, if you just want to take handwritten notes, ipad mini is actually probably a good option as long as you use native ipados apps. alternatively, you could maybe try a kindle scribe or something like that with eink

          • @belongsinforums: I've tried the and liked the kindle scribe a lot, as the pen response was the best I've tried so far, and the writing feel was perfect.

But the software is not good for note taking and organizing. Unfortunately the scribe is a kindle first and a notepad second.

I'm leaning to giving the iPad mini a try as I want something quite rugged and there's plenty of third party cases for it. Plus free returns!

            • @Mixhael: just make sure you buy directly from an apple store for change of mind returns etc

  • Had my eye on this tablet for a while, was really keen for the legion go tab gen 3 to release here, but it's $1000 AUD.

    Might just go for this

  • ooo discounts on the 2024 version soon?

    • +3

2024 and 2025 are the same. I'll look to see what's around for 2023.

  • No micro sd card is a killer for me.

    • Yes, and that's why I recently bought the 2023 version. Great to have all ROMs in a 512gb microSD. Also about $200 cheaper to buy.

  • +1

I've got the original version from 2001, I think. For me it's the perfect size. I use it mainly for casual gaming, nothing too elaborate. The only downsides I have found are the screen is highly reflective and it is a little heavy for its size. At the moment Ali Express have some codes for various dollars spent, so a good time to buy.

Is this version any lighter? Will it take the same case or cover as the 1st edition?

    • +1

Wow 2001, that's amazing. What version of Android are you on?

      • +2

        T-700 Variant most lively

        • Hahaha nice, love that.

      • +1

Ha! Oops. Would you believe 2021?

        • Haha I'm running with 2001!

    • Would a matt finish screen protector help?

  • unable to use the codes….
