  • What a good coincidence I’ll be there at 11

6 free rolls is not a deal - insufficient quantity!
    Half price is.

Half-price may or may not be a deal, depending on what the original price is.

      • After enhancing the thumbnail, can see the caramelised pork roll is $12 normally. Think I'll skip it.

  • What's the golden ticket?

  • Waiting for the Banh Mi wars

Free or 1/2 price? I think you need to update the copy.

The pho bowls are tiny. Even when they handed out a 1/2 price voucher, it felt like it wasn't really worth it.

The place to get a Banh Mi in Hornsby is at Pho Ngon just beside the footbridge connecting to the train station. Special Pork Roll FTW. Non stop queue everyday at lunch time for a reason.

Indeed, but it’s not the same as it used to be. And all the card payers helped to push prices up. For a while they gave cash payers an extra $1 back in change but since the old lady left they don’t do that anymore and I find the rolls are not as crispy or as packed as they used to be.

      • Agreed, definitely a drop in quality in the last 6 months or so. Same goes for the dishes at the restaurant, there has been a noticeable drop in quality and portion size.

      • Yeah the price since COVID has gone a bit crazy. The special Pork roll used to be 7.90 and it's now what…11?12 dollars? Sometimes I get subway instead.

I have tried the Viet bakery 2 shops to the right and it's 'alright', I like the meatball roll there.

        • I think the special pork roll was $9 last time I had it a few months ago. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s $10 or more now. I’ve been going there for over 15 years and it was $7 for the longest time. It’s only in the past few years that prices, quality and staff have all changed.

          • @nubzy: It's still the best in the area for convenience, value and speed. I am sitting right now next to this Chu Hai place and it's pretty quiet…

Tip for op. I think if you had a cabinet that showed your staff actually making the rolls it would convince the walkers by as people can actually see what you put in it. Half the fun at Ngo Pho is to watch them make it in front of you.

          • @nubzy:

going there for over 15 years

Back when Chef's Noodle was under $8, had four meals stuffed in, and no wait.

            • @Thrift: Oh what about that newhish place opposite KFC? They do the all you can fit into a container thing now.

What are people's thoughts on the new Thai place next to Aussie (Super) Pharmacy?

  • +1

No one goes to this place. I don’t know how they are surviving. There’s an authentic viet restaurant just outside and has amazing viet food for reasonable prices.

  • I'll be at the front of the line on the hour, every hour. You'll have to get past me if you want your free banh mi.

    • Were you there? How were the rolls?
