Smashed as bro
you'll get obliterated this far into the life cycle of the game. It's surprising this is still so expensive for a game that's been out for so long tbh..
there are lots of casual players too, and there are simplified control schemes
its a good game i recommend it!
If you're worried about getting smashed online, the single player mode (world tour) is quite fleshed out and a good way to learn the game.
If you play ranked matches, you will match with people in your skill level, so you'll likely by design still win/lose approximately 50% of matches.
There are other modes as well but there will be greater variance in skill level and/or other factors. These include battle hub, casual matches and avatar battles. You might lose more often but there's no ranked anxiety.
Xbox is also $56.64 (Amazon US)

terrible price - wouldnt pay more than $10-20 for this base game disc. bare in mind you gotta pay for DLC season passes to get most of the (good) characters, costumes & arenas/stages, and theres 2 season passes so far. i think the thirds due mid/end of year.
game was on sale at an ok price over xmas but still talking over $100 for all DLC from mem.
on AU psn store, the deluxe edition which includes the season one character pass, is on sale atm for $60 which is better than this, but meh eitherway.
It’s not now, but for context, the base game was on sale last week on the PlayStation store for $40.
I got it digital (which I rarely do) as it’s one of those games I just want to have a quick shot at, so not needing a disc is helpful for my motivation there!100% discs are actually annoying as (profanity) for multiplayer games you jump into, and fighting games are the worst category, cause sometimes you just want a quick sesh… perfect category for cheap digi sales.
It's a decent fighting game but due to our population depending on your skill level you'll end up fighting the same people over and over again as it's pretty dead here.
If it is the deluxe edition for about $60 (which includes DLC pass 1) then it is worth it. But $56 for just base game, it is not.
And arguably the top tier characters are all in DLC at the moment.
Not to mentioned, cross region DLC wont work. I.e. cannot buy Aussie store DLC for a JP region game.
Worth it for 5 mins of fun every now and then? Or would I get smashed if I tried to play online ?
