Tool Drawer for Shed - Low End Vs More Expensive?

I'm looking at tool drawers for the shed, there's a few threads around I've seen with varying opinions and wanted to get an up to date discussion.

Trying to suss the difference between something like this:
https://sydneytools.com.au/product/daytona-d46bb-1066mm-46-9…
and this: https://www.bunnings.com.au/kincrome-bluesteel-1045mm-41-9-d…
and this: https://sydneytools.com.au/product/milwaukee-48228544-1168mm…
or this: https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/toolpro-toolpro-tool-cab…
Are there any brands that are straight garbage/things to avoid?
In store the drawers on the kinchrome and the daytona ones didn't feel worlds apart - the milwaukee felt a bit nicer and sturdier but I can't really see the value when it's not a constantly used mechanic toolset. I haven't tried the toolpro one yet.

FB Marketplace listing in Perth for the Milwaukee $1,399

  • I have the same as your first link as one of my many tool boxes, but in a repco brand. Have owned it for many years, and it gets used daily, and I've had no issues with it.

  • If you are doing the "ToolPro" shop, get the next model up. Go for the "Neon" range, they are much better. It is what I use as my daily driver because be (fropanity) if I was going to be bent over by the SnapOn guy and reamed for half my wage each week to pay off a roll cab that cost more than my car.

The ToolPro Neon ones go on sale from time to time, so if you dont need it urgently, you can wait a little till they have a sale. I picked my roll cab for about $645 on sale and top box for about $450 on sale. (Note, that I bought mine about 6 or so years ago, so prices have changed and I cannot vouch for them if they have changed manufacturer.)

Milwaukee you are literally paying for the paint and badges.

    • Crikey there is something oddly eye-searing with that green colour.

      • Yeah… not a fan. The ones I have are the blue and the yellow…

  • I've been using this most weekends for the last 5 years and it's still opens and closes like day 1.

  • I agree with the others, I use my tool trolleys quite frequently, tested a lot of the consumer stuff. Kinchrome is excellent value, Sidchrome as well. The higher end Toolpro stuff like neon and the red one is alright but has some weird choices with design and quality. The Daytona and Repco is almost identical just rebadged. The next model up of Daytona there's a clear difference in quality. There is a stainless steel timber top style like the bunnings one that is being sold by china importers direct from warehouse, you can find them on fb, ymmv for your area.

Look at how far the drawer slides extend when fully open, does the rear edge of the tray come out or still sit inside the cabinet.
What is the caster locking mech and is it smooth and does it actually lock well. I like the timber top, you can add a vice on some threaded nuts to attach things when needed, some tool cabinets don't have holes to screw one down so you will need to drill.
    Soft close drawers is nice.

The giant cheap brand is absolute avoid if you plan to use it regularly.
SCA and repco have regular 40% sales so just wait for that and stack with cashback or gift cards or convert cc points to bunnings vouchers.
