I've got one of these & it's a very nice watch, love the yellow dial.
The bracelet is nice as well + solid end links. Actually really like not having a screw down crown because it's easy to hand wind while wearing it.
The only weak point is the lume.

These watches punch way above their weight in terms of how the quality feels in hand. Unbelievably good bezel action.

  • does this suit people with small wrist ? 43mm diameter is fairly large ?? Not ??

    • +1

My wrist is just under 7 inches. It looks good on me.

    • +1

Yeah that is getting big, look for 39-41mm.
You could try some on in a store first to get an idea.

Still depends On the lug and case design, you can get away with it if they turn down. Those orient Mako 2/3 (and kamasu) wear pretty well.

    • How small? $117 delivered gets this 35mm dive watch (sapphire, 200m, screw back & crown, Seiko quartz):

Other colours available, (not yellow) but a MOP for a few bucks more

      • 35mm is getting very small and divers are meant to be big.
One of these would have been good for people wanting smaller, gone at the cheap prices though
        https://watchdirect.com.au/products/citizen-promaster-eco-dr…

39-40mm can't go wrong in general

        • +1

Your link was OOS, here's an alternate CW for $240 after coupon:
          https://www.watchdepot.com.au/products/citizen-eco-drive-eo2…

          Watchdirect says 36mm
          Watchdepot says 37mm

The Ratio is 35mm, and was a suggestion to the small-wristed sistermay.

          • @Speckled Jim: Cheers, they were going cheap but couldn't find too many of the one I linked for cheap.
That navy is an excellent looking option, I'm pretty sure they are 37mm but all similar for the small size vs 44mm for the larger BN model eco-drives.

a suggestion to the small-wristed sistermay.

We will never know how small is small :P.

            • @G-rig: @sistermay wrist pic pls

Ratio also do the 40mm ~$135 delivered (yes I account for GST this time) for the quartz
              https://www.creationwatches.com/products/ratio-watches-431/r…

Doesn't really look yellow in those pics tho

              • @Speckled Jim: I'm ok.
Never heard of that brand so take your chances. No resale value either whereas these Citizens you can easily sell later and are much liked.

                • @G-rig: Meant for sistermay, 40mm may be preferable to 43mm.
But yeah, international 2 year warranty is a bit thin, and I haven't looked into their local agent.

        • Bought that a while ago for my wife as her travel watch so that she does not have to worry about water. Great small dial watch. Deepak at Starbuy did it for $244.00.

        • GST brings the first example to $129 delivered.
  • I have this and love it except I take it off on Friday arvo and it's dead by Monday morning.

So you're saying I can wind it by hand quickly at some stage over the weekend and then it's ready to go still on Monday morning?

    • +2

Yes pull crown out to first stop save give it a wind whenever and or just wear it at some point as well.

      • +4

@daft009 - In your situation if you want to keep it running just wind it, no need to pull the crown out at all.

        • Oh yeah forgot it wasn't a screw down. Even easier to wind when you get a spare sec.
It's quick to set the time anyway, about 30s (some people watch tv for 5 hours a day).

Still worth having quartz watches in the collection if you are rotating a few and want something to grab and go.

    • You can also invest in a watch winder to gently keep it moving so it winds itself, but a good one will likely cost more than the watch itself. If you can afford one or more of these then it may just be easier to hand it to your personal valet and ask him to keep it wound for you so when he’s dressing you on Monday morning it’ll be ready to go as he slips it into your wrist.

      • Yeah I wouldn't worry about those at all - as you say would cost more than the watch.
It still doesn't make your movement last any longer. The oils dry out over time whether the movement is running or not (I'm pretty sure). Plus once you have over two autos you run into the same problem :P.

It's a posh accessory though for braggin' rights.

      • Think mate has one of those auto winders for his Tag

    No sapphire no go

    • lol mineral is completely fine and you wouldn't have an issue, what do you expect for $200.
Off to Ali-express for you. Not all sapphire is the same quality either, similar to WR.

    • Scroll up, $129 for the Ratio Freediver with Seiko quartz movement.
Two year warranty they reckon, that's probably a hassle though.

Bought this watch from the same deal last time. I was apprehensive not having tried the watch on and never having bought from Starbuy, but the watch is so good for $199. Punches well above its weight. Texture on the dial looks great in person and suits my 8" wrist really well, even had to take links out. Fast postage to regional SA too. Treat yourself, or would make a great gift.

Hey @WatchNerd thank you for posting several watch deals over the years. I am curious and was wondering if you could tell us/me about your watch collection.

    • +1

You're welcome. I mainly wear divers, own a couple of Seiko, Citizen & Steeldive SD1970. G-Shock DW9052. And some others.

I've sold way more than I own.

      • So have you owned the ones you've sold or do you sell watches professionally?

        • Professional Oz bargainer ;).
The recommendations are pretty good and can't go too wrong, good choices for the spend.
