Big price hike yet again on the lump. Used to be $49.95 immediately before the hike.

    • Yeah too expensive.

    • It's crazy burnt wood costs so much now

I wanted to know if it was an international thing. Walmart sell hardwood lump charcoal for around .95c a lb.

      • 18 kg = 39.683 lb
      • .95 * 40 = 38
      • 38 USD = $60.52 AUD
      • $60.52 + GST = $66.57

It’s our weak currency that is impacting pricing, everyone is chanting for a rate cut which will drop the AUD even further and make everything even more expensive.

  • Yeah bunnings has gone up even more for pellets. I used to buy the 15kg hardwood pellets for $12.90 from bunnings but now the cheapest they have is 9kg pit boss pellets for $36.

  • I really enjoyed Firebrand's Lump, they had it on sale for 39.95 at one point. It's 20kg, they're nice big chunks. Low low ash and burn for ages in my Kamado.

Shipping is a bit meh, but I guess you get that anywhere as it's 20kg…

    • Whoa, shipping is more than a bit "meh" for regional WA…. SHIPPING: $154.63 I'll keep looking locally for varieties to try :)

      • Ouch ok that's bad! For me it's $20

The best lump charcoal I have found is: https://aussiebbqsmoke.com/online-store/ols/products/pure-au…

Larger, more consistently sized pieces than you'll ever see at Bunnings, and lasts far longer.

How do you know if you're getting 18kg or 22kg?

    • +1

They seem legit and it is nice that are using local hardwood. It could also explain why they are a bit cheaper as it isn't imported and competing against US dollars.

    • Looks awesome but $30 shipping to Sydney for a $50 bag ):

Anyone got any Sydney charcoal recommendations?
