    Here we go again…

  • +4

hide yo kids hide yo wife hide yo gift cards till next week

  • no Ultimate Everyone :(

    • Free points has a deal listed for Woolies but it can't be posted here until Monday.

      • is it a better deal?

        • Put Freepoints into your favs.

Quote from the Ww deal, which is for a bonus 10%, not 10% off:
"As for the Ultimate gift cards, you are likely better off buying the Ultimate Him, Her, Teens and Students gift cards that are 10% off at Coles at the same time as this offer.
Not only will you be saving more with the Coles offer (10.00% vs 9.09%), you’ll also earn 1x Flybuys point per dollar spent if you scan your Flybuys card at the checkout."

          • @Igaf: Correct, but they asked about Ultimate Everyone cards which are in the WW deal but not this Coles one.

              • @Igaf: It must be a better deal at Woolies for Ultimate EVERYONE cards as Coles do not have them as part of this sale.

                • @bigspike: Shouldn't need to explain but since you've clearly missed the point:
DealSA didn't ask about that particular card, but whether the Ww deal was better than this deal. The link I provided thanks to Freepoint gives all the details about which cards are involved and the relative merits of the deals.

                  • @Igaf: If you follow the reply indents, all of these replies are under a comment asking about about Ultimate Everyone cards. YMMV.

                    • -1

@bigspike: No, the original didn't ASK anything, unlike DealSA who asked a very specific question.

If you follow Ozb you'll know indents mean diddly squat.

Starting with your reply to me, all these indented comments are pointless.

                      • @Igaf: Yep - pointless as comprehension of the conversation is around 5 diddle squats.

      • Can you PM me please

Dam was hoping for air bnb gift cards.

  • +2

    I’m still waiting for 15% off…

    • Better than that 8% nonsense from Amazon

    • +4

I fear the 15% days are over… how many have there been in the past year?

      • +1

        Yeah
I picked up $2k's worth about a year and a half ago

        Been waiting ever since :(

    • Don't think they would come around until November or December.

  • do coles/woolworths ever do more then 10% off for these gift cards ?

    • +5

They have, but the last such deal was 15% bonus value in July 2023.

      • Stocked up back then
        Hasnt been the same :(

  • Did any see the 500 value ones these days in coles? For the last few time, I can only see the 50 bucks ones if I was lucky.

    • Yeah it's pretty crap

  • Can yo use like 10 cards in officeworks in one transaction?

    • Read this FAQ.

(It is from the FAQ page linked at the bottom of the deal description.)

    • +3

In case anyone cares, we used 44 at Officeworks for 1 transaction (turns out to be an Ozbargain record?) to buy an iPhone (combo'd with a few other things, will end up saving about ~$750).

      Here's proof: https://imgur.com/a/VVhgbMs

We went in and ask the manager a few days ahead if it was okay, we were really nice about it, asking when are they quietest etc.
Prepped all the cards in groups of $500, pin scratched off, we went on opening Saturday morning, surprisingly, end-to-end, it only took 15 minutes.

My advice would be to go at a really quiet time, at a big store (so they can cater an additional person on the tills).

  • Can never find these

    • +2

      They’re behind the peas

  • any chance of discounted apple gift cards anywhere

    • Points deals have recently finished. They come up regularly.

<ctrl>f apple on This Freepoints page shows 78 deals since Aug2021.

    • Not sure if we can still do it but about a year and a half ago when they had the 15% off Ultimate GC deal, I did manage to add the Ultimate Home GCs to Google Pay wallet (could also do it with ApplePay) and pay for Apple GCs from JB-Hifi.

  • +1

i wish they brought back the 15% off

  • Note that the variable load $50-500 Ultimate Him gift card is excluded. See below for a list of the included denominations for each gift card in this offer:

    Ultimate Him: $50, $100
    Ultimate Her: $50, $100, $50-500 variable load
    Ultimate Teens: $30, $50
    Ultimate Students: $30, $50

  • Are tampered cards a possibility on these ones as well or is it just Apple ones?

    • Tampering is a possibility on any gift card, but I doubt tampering on Ultimate gift cards would be as insidious as the tampering on Apple gift cards.

The reasons tampering is seemingly so rife on Apple gift cards at the moment are due to at least two egregious design choices:

      • The sheet with the gift card redemption code is not physically attached to the same piece of cardboard as the gift card packaging, which means someone who carefully opens the packaging could slip out the sheet and swap it for another one. (That is how the issue with mismatching serial numbers can happen.)

      • There is nothing covering the gift card redemption code on the sheet inside the packaging, which means someone who carefully opens the packaging could slip out the sheet, record the redemption code and then partially destroy it, making it impossible for the person purchasing the gift card later to redeem it.

Ultimate (Visa) gift cards are designed differently.

      • Ultimate gift cards have the activation barcode printed on the physical gift card, not on the packaging. That means swapping out the Ultimate gift card for another one makes no sense.

      • Older Ultimate gift cards have the activation barcode open for anyone to see, which means you can easily check whether someone has stuck the activation barcode for another Ultimate gift card on top.1

      • Newer Ultimate gift cards have the activation barcode covered by a tab that needs to be removed before purchase, plus the most recent batch of Ultimate gift cards I have seen (dated mid 2024) also have a hologram on the packaging. (I am not sure how the hologram is supposed to behave, but the packaging says to not purchase the gift card if the hologram is already damaged.)

If I were you, I would open the packaging for each Ultimate gift card and quickly inspect the gift card to see whether any gift card details have been scraped off2 and whether the activation barcode has been replaced with an activation barcode for another gift card. Considering you have to rip off part of the packaging on the newer Ultimate gift cards anyway, I doubt it would make any difference to Coles staff whether you only rip off the tab or rip off more of the packaging.

      1. I have never seen this happen before with Ultimate gift cards, but a few people - including myself - have seen this previously happen with TCN eftpos gift cards and Perfect eftpos gift cards

      2. I have never seen this happen before with Ultimate gift cards, but a few people have seen this previously happen with Activ Visa gift cards, which uses similar packaging. This has also previously happened with Vanilla/Coles Mastercard gift cards and Vanilla Visa gift cards.

        Thank you WookieMonster very helpful.

  • Can this be used at EB games to purchase PSN credit?

    • Someone please advise, I'm considering steam credit this way. :)

    • Playstation Store is one of the options for these cards, no need to convert them to EB Games

  • Cant see IKEA on the list of retailers on the web: https://www.ultimategiftcards.com.au/card/students/

Will the Stident card work in IKEA?

    • +1

It's literally listed in the first row of retailers.

  • Only applies for listed below:
    Ultimate Him: $50, $100
    Ultimate Her: $50, $100, $50-500 variable load
    Ultimate Teens: $30, $50
    Ultimate Students: $30, $50
Doesn’t apply to ultimate him variable load gift card

    • Ik that the deal says it about the variable card, still a kick in the groin cause I wanted to buy MacBook

  • hey guys, I wanna buy Powerbeats Pro 2 from Apple or JB, can I use Ultimate gift card to get a discount?

    • +3

You cannot use Ultimate gift cards directly at Apple, because Apple is not listed as a participating retailer. If you are particularly keen on purchasing directly from Apple and not a third party, you could try to use an Ultimate gift card to purchase an Apple gift card, but:

You can use Ultimate gift cards at JB Hi-Fi in-store and online (jbhifi.com.au).

      • There is no known redemption limit coded into the in-store checkouts for Ultimate gift cards, which means all you need to do is ask the staff member to split payments across multiple cards, then tell the staff member how much to redeem from each card. You can read more about this in the FAQ linked at the bottom of the deal description.

      • You can only redeem a maximum of one Ultimate gift card directly on jbhifi.com.au, because that website cannot handle split payments across multiple Visa cards. However, you can convert your Ultimate gift card into a digital JB Hi-Fi gift card, then redeem multiple JB Hi-Fi gift cards (and also one Ultimate gift card, if you want) in the one transaction on that website. Again, you can read more about this in the FAQ linked at the bottom of the deal description.

      • +1

Thank you mate, I will use it for jbhifi as you have outlined.

    • What I did was purchase ultimate hims cards and convert them to JB giftcards @https://exchangeyourcard.com.au/ and then get the powerbeats from JB online. I even managed to haggle with the livechat for $10 off (free shipping) https://imgur.com/a/arR3rAO

  • So hard to find solid info - but can I purchase multiple gift cards and use them in a single tx at EB games?

    • Doesn't seem like it's possible online.

"Multiple gift cards, please note: It is not possible for multiple gift cards to be used for payment at this time."

      https://support.ebgames.com.au/hc/en-us/articles/49629134173…

      • +2

Should have noted - I went in store and they accepted multiples for one tx.

    • yeah i have always used in store multiple no dramas

  • Thanks OP. Managed to get 5x

  • Got 20.

  • +4

Thanks. Purchased with Choice Groceries gift cards (which are Visa cards) purchased on Amazon with Tech Head gift card purchased on Special gift cards with Commbank Yello and Amex with cashback offers.

  • do I earn normal Flybuys points on this one?
