  • Comfortable? YMMV

I personally am not a fan of a Merell fit. But we all have different foot shapes.

    • On the contrary, to me Merrel are the GOATs of comfort and shape. I'm still rocking boots I bought in 2019.

      • Yes, not saying they are uncomfortable in general. I enjoy Samsonite comfort and can't stand Merrells. Hence YMMV :-)

      • I find them comfy as well. Do you have wide feet? I do, and Keen also make wide, comfy shoes.

  • Anyone know how this is compared to my MOAB 2?

"Award winning"….and which award would that be?

      • Ah right, a commercial trade show organiser that also promotes sports betting…seems like a competent & relevant authority on shoes.

        • +1

Looks like they're essentially promoters who use "experts" to peruse products (and the manufacturer advertising spiel) entered by brands, much like wine and spirit comps - although at least liquor judges have to try the product.

          • @Igaf: An award in exchange for money…how reputable!

    • The ISPO award went to a 2022 version. Is that == to this? Hard to know. Irrespective, the review I posted below casts at least some doubt on those awards I reckon.

I'll never understand why they take an okay looking boot and slap a giant f off logo on there and make it so no-one would want it.

Just watched it. That's a really cool review. I haven't seen such an in-depth analysis of a shoe before, and they cut it in half to see how it's made. I'm going to check out their other videos (Rogue Hiker).

For those who didn't watch it: They rate this boot as one of the biggest failures of a major hiking boot company they've seen. Poor quality boot. They went all ultra-lightweight and totally compromised the longevity.

      • (Replying to myself but thought this was worth showing others)

They reviewed my favourite boots - Redbacks (made in Australia). I have exactly these in the safety version (steel cap) and they are my favourite shoe ever. Really comfy to wear all day, never slips on anything, is strong and durable and after 3 years, they are like day one.

      • Quite a few video reviewers do similar things for tennis shoes, runners and boots. That's okay but I prefer reviews where the footwear has been worn and tested over a period of time.

The two best "outdoor" shoe/boot review sites I've found are runrepeat and gearlab
