Each person can choose one of the following dishes:

~Traditional Bacon & Eggs – Two pancakes topped with eggs, crispy bacon, and a side of maple syrup.
~Regular Stack – Three fluffy pancakes served with your choice of butter, cream, or ice cream.

this looks like borderline value if that pic is effectively a $10 plate

if you're a tradie you'd probably think they are taking the piss

I find im using groupon less and less these days, the deals arent as good as previous years.

    • +1

Can't agree with more. Groupon used to be quite good though.

      • Their support also sucks these days, years ago these deal sites were fantastic

Pancake parlour is one of the dumbest places to eat. The amount of profit they make should be insane. If it was $10 on the menu for the pancake with bacon sure. I do like it but took the kids there ages ago and was like $100 for the 3 of us. For pancakes wtf. And the coffee is terrible.

The amount of profit they make should be insane.

They most likely aren't, based on my previous experience in the hospitality industry. The two highest costs are rent and labour, materials cost for a restaurant is relatively low (broadly speaking). These are also two areas where Pancake Palour is very inefficient on.

Whatever the reason, their business model is to hire large spaces in relatively upmarket shopping centres, which will be very expensive. They struggle to fill their venues, have a very high number of staff per patron, and seem to be operating a model that is very inefficient.

Just as an example, if you ever see a Pancake Palour and TGI Fridays in the same space, they almost always have a similar footprint, with TGI Fridays being quite consistently able to fill their tables during peak periods, whereas Pancake Palour never can.

      • How are they able to pay for the expensive rent and operate 24/7?

      • +1

Yeah, they cannot sustain in such operating model. It's just a matter of time when they be on the news - another iconic Aussie restaurant closing down.

        • You could have said that about PP 15 years ago and it would be just as relevant…They've been doing the same trade for ages now, dunno how they've survived this long!

      • -2

        So it’s money laundering.

      • You've been around for a while now, PP has been half empty for decades now. Surely they're doing something to stay in business.

I have had this deal many times. Great deal. And if you can get 2 x bacon and Eggs for $17.49 it’s under $10 per plate which is fantastic

  • +2

    Wow.. Groupon is still around

  • The deal said 10% surcharge for weekend. Would someone know how this surcharge applied when we use this voucher in the weekend, i.e. 10% on what since we are not actually paying cash on the day? Thanks

    • Would apply , why would they skimp on surcharge ?

    • +1

They make you pay the extra 10% in order to use the voucher.

      • Thank you, so I assume 10% of the original price of $55.80 then?
