Maybe I got lucky, but I found the game was pretty easy. If you invest in the right stuff (Instant Karma for example) and use the right dice, it's a walk in the park.
Some good skills:
- Instant Karma
- Self Repair (great later when you can get plenty of scrap)
- Ice Breaker
I found the Endure skills were not that useful. Obsessive Haggler is OK, but not necessary.
Towards the end you can have enough cash to constantly eat for energy each cycle, and scrap to heal yourself to the point that you don't need the stabilizers at all. I think I finished with about 10 stabilizers.
Yeah I mean it's not intended to be a punish. There's definitely a tipping point where things become easier, and it sort of aligns nicely with the story where the focus shifts from survival to helping others.
Currently playing through, can confirm, fantastic game with great writing!
If you like great writing, check out Disco Elysium if you haven't already. Also Citizen Sleeper 2 is out on GamePass.
Highly recommend this game. Amazing game with great writing and a really captivating atmosphere. Only takes 10-15 hours to finish.
