  • For variable card, can you buy random amount like $275?

    • +3

You can. Any amount between $20 and $500 is fine.

      • +4

        So $420.69?

        • Yes,
          It can be any amount

        • -1

Yes, I previously bought a card with $222.22 credit so that the cost rounded down to exactly $200 with the 10% off offer on at the time.

  • Works out about 10% off, right?

    • +4

More or less. 10% of what you spend is returned to you in the form of Everyday Rewards Dollars that you can redeem at Woolworths, Big W, BWS etc (or convert to Qantas points).

    • +1

More 10% bonus value in a different form

  • +4

you can stack this with Special Gift Cards - where you buy a $200 woolworths voucher, add it to your digital wallet (ie Google Pay), then use this to buy something like TCN Teen $200

    Original Outlay = $200
10% back on Special GC (assuming you have it through Amex or CBA Yello) = $20
20x Woolworths points = $20 off your next shop
    Total savings $40

    • I thought you can't use gift cards to pay for gift cards?

      • +5

        Normally you can't.
        But Special are Special

        • Does it need to be a special gift card or will the normal Woolies gift cards work too?

          • @victor766: Been a long while since woolies own gift cards have worked as you describe.

            • @snappy1234: Does that means I can stack with the current reward app 3% off on Woolworths gift card?

      • You can if you are buying closed loop ones and Special is also special.

    • Sorry, but can you (or anyone else) clarify if the $200 woolworths voucher you are talking about is this woolworths special ?

      thanks

      • +1

They were referring to that Woolworths Special gift card.

        • so is it indeed this Woolworths special giftcard, am i correct?

I have never use it to buy TCN physical giftcard in woolworths before, so i just want to be sure before spending $200 in my amex card.

          thanks

          • +1

            @wiltonson:

so is it indeed this Woolworths special gift card, am i correct?

            Correct.

Keep in mind that the Woolworths Special gift card is a prepaid Mastercard gift card, so after you purchase it, you will need to store it as a new payment card on Apple Pay or Google Wallet first, then when you get to Woolworths and go through the process of purchasing the TCN gift card, you need to choose Card (or Card (Split Payment)) at the checkout screen and then tap and pay from your smart device.

I have never use it to buy TCN physical giftcard in woolworths before, so i just want to be sure before spending $200 in my amex card.

I see. Do you have any more questions before you take the plunge and buy your first physical TCN gift card from Woolworths?

            • @WookieMonster: thanks for your confirmation. I think that's the key concern I have. Yeah I'll surely loaded them onto my google pay before going to wooolworths.

My grand plan is to get 5x $100 TCN cards and eventually off to The Good Guys to buy a Dyson of over $500. Hopefully they will accept all 5x TCN cards for payments with balance on my Amex.

              • +1

                @wiltonson: I am glad you asked, because…

                • In-Store: there appears to be no limit to the number of payment cards you can use in one transaction at The Good Guys. My record is four, but this person said they used 100… I think you will be fine with six payment cards. When redeeming the TCN gift cards, remember to tell the staff member you want to do so split payments between multiple cards (or eftpos cards), the exact amount you want to redeem from each card, swipe the card, press Savings and then enter the PIN provided on the back of the card.

                • Online at thegoodguys.com.au: this will not work. You cannot redeem these physical TCN gift cards directly on The Good Guys' website, and even if you convert them to digital The Good Guys gift cards (which you can do through the TCN website), The Good Guys' website will only accept a maximum of two The Good Guys gift cards in the same transaction.

                • Online at thegoodguyscommercial.com.au: this will not work. You cannot redeem these physical TCN gift cards directly on The Good Guys Commercial's website, plus this website does not accept The Good Guys gift cards at all. If you want to purchase an item at the price shown on The Good Guys Commercial's store, your best bet is to go to a physical The Good Guys store and ask a staff member whether they can match (or even beat) it.

                • Over the phone at 1300 942 765: this will probably work. You cannot redeem these physical TCN gift cards directly over the phone, but my understanding is that if you convert them to digital The Good Guys gift cards, the phone sales team can redeem more than two The Good Guys gift cards in one transaction.

                • +1

@WookieMonster: Thanks buddy. Yeah i did a search on ozbargain just now and hopefully 5x TCN cards + 1 credit card shouldn't be too much of challenge for any staff there.

  • How many of the variable load gift cards can you buy with $500 on them?

    • 14 total

    • +2

The offer terms and conditions state that you can only purchase a maximum of two variable-load gift cards per Everyday Rewards account per day.

For example, if you purchase 3x $500 TCN Teen gift cards in one transaction, the checkout will only award bonus points on two of the gift cards. If you want to buy more than two TCN Teen gift cards during this deal, you will need to either:

      • Split up your purchases across multiple days, ensuring you only purchase a maximum of 2x $500 per day (assuming you only have access to one Everyday Rewards membership), or

      • Split up your purchases across multiple transactions (assuming you have access to more than one Everyday Rewards membership, but keep in mind that some staff will not like it if you split up purchases of gift cards across multiple transactions, because they could see that as you trying to circumvent purchase limits).

Having said that, if you purchased 2x $500 TCN Teen gift cards and 1x $500 TCN Kids gift card in the same transaction, there is a chance you will earn bonus points on all three gift cards, because the TCN Teen gift card and TCN Kids gift card are seen by Everyday Rewards as two different types of gift cards.

      • that is only for the variable, right?

        i need to buy 4 x $100 Him and 4 x $100 Her cards.
i will get the points for the 8 cards since the maximum allowed is 10 cards?

I just wanted to verify so i don't have to keep going back everyday to get just 2 cards each day.

        • Yep.

If you look at the terms and conditions in the deal description, it says in bold:

Unless specified, a limit of 10 cards per day per Rewards Member.

For TCN Teen Variable ($20-$500) and TCN Kids Variable ($20-$500) where you choose the amount to load, limit of 2 cards per day per Rewards Member.

There is no limit specified for fixed-value TCN Him and fixed-value TCN Her gift cards in the terms and conditions, so therefore the limit per member per day is ten. If you go to a self checkout to purchase these gift cards, when you go to the payment screen and obtain approvals from a staff member, the points counter on the top right-hand corner should update to reflect the number of bonus points you will earn for the transaction. I use that to verify whether I will get the right number of points before I pay (especially since I can always ask a staff member to void the transaction if the wrong number of points appears on the counter).

  • Is Kayo no longer on the Him card?

    • +2

Has the TCN Him gift card ever featured Kayo as a participating retailer? I went through a few past deals for TCN Him gift cards from 2021-2024 and none of them listed Kayo as a participating retailer.

I suspect you are confusing the TCN Him gift card with the Ultimate Him gift card (which is issued by a competitor), as the Ultimate Him gift card has featured Kayo for quite a while now.

      • +1

Yep my mistake, I'm thinking of Ultimate. Looks like they're on sale at Coles next week!

  • While certain TCN cards are variable to load up with, when redeeming them for JB HIFI, I'm assuming you don't have a choice to pick a variable amount?

Does anyone know what the available options for JB HiFi to convert to are?

    Thanks so much

  • -1

Hi, just wondering can Woolworths rewards points can be used to buy gift cards?

  • This is confusing… I have woolworths car insurance which entitles me 10% discount off my woolworths shopping per month. If I use this 10% off discount to buy the TCN giftcard, will I still qualify for the 20x points for buying TCN giftcard? thanks

    • +1

The discount doesn't apply to gift cards.

      • +2

oh shit, i wasn't aware of that. so the 10% off only applies for grocery shopping.

        thanks for your quick response!

        • +2

Btw, just in case you were not aware of this, Woolworths' checkouts will still ask you whether you want to apply your 10% discount when purchasing gift cards (and it did this when I purchased one of these gift cards yesterday). If you press Yes, the checkout will apply no discount, and I am not sure whether you will still be able to use your discount for the month.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: dang, making you press Yes and yet no discount apply on your TCN giftcard. Hope you still be able to use the discount for this month.

I'll surely be buying my giftcard separately to avoid confusion.

  • If you buy the Good Food gift card (and I am assuming the Pub & Bar one also) you can convert it to digital and then use it to buy a Restaurant Choice gift card on ShopBack which gives you 3% back and is available to use at a much wider range of locations (Eating Places and Restaurants (5812), Hotels, Caterers (5811), Drinking Places (Alcoholic Beverages), Bars,Taverns, Cocktail lounges, Nightclubs and Discotheques (5813) Fast Food Restaurants (5814) Motels & Resorts, Central Merchant (7011), Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals, and Fortune Tellers (7996)). This is due to the fact that ShopBack uses 5812 for this specific card (and potentially some others).

This takes the total discount to 13% with 10% back in EDR and 3% back in ShopBack eg. you are paying $87 for the $100 gift card once you get your EDR dollars and ShopBack credit AND you can use the gift card for Fast Food among other things. If you have bought the Good Food card this is an absolute no brainer.

    • +1

I am assuming the Pub & Bar one also

This stopped working on the Pub & Bar gift cards in October 2024 and was still not working in December 2024.

      • +1

Ahh fair enough. Good Food definitely still works.

    • Wondering if there is any way to combine gift cards to get a higher one, but seems like it’s not possible :/

      • Best you can do is buy the $200 Good Food card and get a $200 Restaurant Choice. Can't split payment on ShopBack unfortunately.

  • is woolies ever going to do 20x points on airbnb ever again ?!?! :(

    • Air bnb is it even worth it these days… Seems to cost more than a hotel

      • i use it for airbnb experiences when i travel (ie walking tours, food tours, bar hopping experiences) i dont use it for accom anymore

        • airbnb experiences cheap vs elsewhere?

          • @Poor Ass: in my experience yeah. also much better cancellation rules than proper tour companies
