Benchtop Water Filter with RO - Continuous Flow

Hi,

I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I am currently using a Brita water filter and while it does the job, I find it inefficient to keep filling up the jug multiple times a day. While visiting one of my relatives in the UAE, I came across this bench top water filter (https://www.danubehome.com/ae/en/p/milano-ro-uv-water-purifi…) and was wondering if you have come across a similar one here as this one is not available for sale here. It has a water inlet (similar to the one the fridges use) and it also has a water outlet to discard the "dirty" water. The filters are replaceable and it does various filtering including reverse osmosis (RO). I have tried looking online and could not find anything similar so I am asking the brains trust here if you have come across it. I did find this post previously (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/864703) but most of the suggestions are the Philips ones which has the same issue of refilling the tank regularly. We cannot fit the RO filter under the sink as it means cutting through the stone to install which would not be possible. Happy to do light plumbing as we have the option to get a water line in to the filter and out of the filter without any drilling (based on the location we are thinking of).

Thanks.

PS. Forgot to mention that our budget was around the $500-600 mark.

Edit since I have seen a comment on this. I do want the one that can be powered by the mains since I have an electrical outlet nearby for it. Also, I wanted one which can connect to the water outlet wall (since I can easily set that up) compared to connecting to the kitchen tap directly (since my one is the extendible head like this https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0CYSX9G96/)

Not familiar with the UAE filter. But I buy mine from psifilters and they sell this one maybe? Uglier though.

    • So, they expect people to have that 70's style box sitting on their counter top?

      • You expect people to consume water with fluoride in it?

    • Is it powered (electric) or passive (mains pressure driven)?

      • I would have assumed it was electric but from the pictures, its not very clear. Normally the RO ones I have seen online are electric.

    • Thanks for that. It's in my list to investigate further. I do agree its not great aesthetically however the priority is the water filtering at this point. Btw, is it easy to change the filters for this? How often do you change them? How much to replace?

      • The site says that the Trio filter pack is $70 for one or $135 for two, so should be that.

It's not electric. But I think will have a constant "waste" water stream that goes down the drain. I think. Please check.

I use an electric TDS meter to check that mine is filtering. I only change the filter based on that. In 9 years, I think I've changed mine twice.

Zipwater is the answer but unfortunately not within that budget.

Even Bibo is double that: https://bibowater.com.au/pages/compare-bibo-zip-and-billi

    • Thanks for the link. I checked and you are right, its almost double my budget :(

You've ruled out Brita's On Tap V-MF system? I switched from Brita XL to Glass so I get plenty of upper limb exercise from all the extra refilling.

    • Cannot use it on my tap unfortunately; I have the extendable head.

We are using a few of these: https://www.livingwhole.com.au/product/countertop-reverse-os…

We replaced the blue plastic hosing (internal ones in the unit and the external line to glass tank) with 1/4″ Stainless Steel Flexible Braided Water Lines ;)

    • Thanks for that; it looks similar to the one posted by @hallo123. It has the tap attachment though (the white hosing in the picture) so if there is a way to use it to a water line in the wall, I will put it in my list to investigate further.

I have been using this for 4+ years. Seems to work well. About $150/yr for replacement filter.

    • Just had a look at it; does it do RO? Cannot tell from the description.

Nah, just a generic filter :/ There are a heap of these that come up when trying to find reverse osmosis ones ;)

The difference is particle size and waste water (RO filters out 1000x smaller particles, but also generates waste water)
