Would be good to mention it’s a VA panel!

    • +1

      VA

    • +8

      It’s a VA panel

    • itsa

    • My office uses these, they don't have the typical black smearing that you see with nearly every other non-TCL VA panel. I imagine these may be using a HVA panel from TCL…

      • Is this the same thing as Rapid VA?

        • +1

Apparently not, looking at some reviews from the MSI version of this that have smearing. The samsung HVA panels don't suffer from this at all (Neo g7).

          • @bonkers22: That's great to know! I'm considering whether to buy one of these because my MSI ultra wide VA (not Rapid VA) has pretty noticeable smearing. I wonder if there's a way to check if these are HVA?

            • +1

@Dealf Hunter: It seems only KTC advertise that some of their models are HVA panels (see amazon). Other than that, Samsung is a known user for their high-end Neo G9/G8/G7 monitors. Only way to know is to research the models online.

    No stand? Cantstandya

    • +6

It can swivel and tilt without a stand, that’s pretty impressive

      • +5

of course, you sit it on your desk, and it starts to tilt almost immediately and completes the fall to the ground with a nice swivelling action !

        • +2

          at 9.8 m/s^2

      • +2

Nah, just prop it up against the wall and swivel and tilt your head.

  • +1

If this is not curve i'll get one. Because my main is a 4k monitor I need a side monitor

    • +1

what model is your main 4K monitor?

also just curve your main one

      • Phillips. Non curve. Problem is we cant use curve on the side, or in vertical mode.

    • Curvature: 1800R

  • I was looking at this LG for $100 more.

    To LG or this Samsung?

(I have a desk arm so stand not important)

      Buy Dell Ultrasharp U3415W 34" 3440 x 1440 21:9 Curved Monitor instead for $259 + $20 delivery.

Older model and no USB C but IPS display.

      • +1

I wonder why they are selling monitors without stands. to be mounted instead?

        • +13

These are likely pulled from corporate offices where they were mounted on arms and the stands are probably long gone. Just my guess.

        • +1

Probably got them used from offices where they were mounted on swivel arm. The stands were discarded long time ago.

        • +1

I’m thinking maybe one of those big structures in the cbd had a gazillion monitors installed by contracted IT specialist who either flogged them and they are sitting in a kennards’s collecting dust or it was binned. And yes most likely the desks for the workers in the matrix had dual monitor arms

      • +2

        60hz

      • This had been sitting at $195 for ages

    • Without details of the LG it is impossible to say, but if it is IPS then it'd probably be preferably for most things over VA.

    • Sorry, forgot the model!

      LG 34BP65C-B

Does the #B in the Ebay listing title stand for B Grade? as that means they may not be in the best condition.

    • +2

      Quite possibly:

“These units may have minor scratch on the screen which don't effect the visibillity. All components are tested to be in working order”

This looks to be the “A” grade option of the same screen:

  • Any recommendations on a docking station that would support 2 * 3440x1440 100Hz

    • 3440x1440@100Hz is very close (slightly less) than the bandwidth requirement of 3840x2160@60Hz

      Docks that support dual 4k60Hz:
      - USB-C with MST, HBR3 and MST (multi-monitor doesn't work with macs)
      - Sufficiently good thunderbolt 3/4 dock (multi-monitor seems to not work with AMD CPUs)
      - DisplayLink (laggier, have to faff around with drivers, limited bandwidth for USB devices connected to the dock)

If you have a relatively modern windows PC I'd go for an Alogic MX2/MX3, I have an MX3 and it's running 1x 1440p120Hz + 2x 1200p60Hz monitors well on both my intel and AMD laptops. Can find them on ebay for ~$100

Lenovo is the other brand where it's easy to find monitor resolution support: https://support.lenovo.com/au/en/solutions/pd029622
The 40AS dock can also do the bandwidth, also around $100 used but can only provide 60w to your laptop instead of 100W.

A lot of the cheap used thunderbolt docks will have device/brand specific cables, so you'd probably need to purchase another thunderbolt cable which aren't cheap. Also keep in mind that a lot of thunderbolt docks include really short cables.

Displaylink, the HP HSA-B005DS is good value but having dealt with displaylink I personally wouldn't bother with it again.

  • Anyone with links to an Ultrasharp or equivalent 32" Curved IPS? Not for Gaming, mainly productivity plus some design work.

  • +2

I have one of these, bought new a few years back.
Yes it's a VA panel, but for office work it's great. Extra wide spreadsheets or multiple documents open at once.
The usb C has enough grunt to keep the laptop charged and the KVM let's me switch to desktop PC easily.
    Would recommend.

    • Does the KVM side work ok? I had a lot of issues with the KVM in my Dell monitor. Eg, in a boring meeting, switch to home PC and all sound drops out

  • is it easy to install ur own stand??

    • +2

Yes, but better to have 2 people to hold monitor and align it to the stand.
( I have installed monitors on stands alone, anyway )

Just make sure the monitors have the screw holes for the VESA mount, and then check the weight of the monitor, so that the stand can support the weight.

Look for stands, with a 'gas lift', ie. the gas (pneumatic), will be more stable and sturdy.

  • I don't see how this is a deal. You can get 34" curved monitors around $330 with a stand and new warranty. Happy to be corrected.

    • +2

Would you be able to recommend one or two with USB-C as I'm in the market for one? Thank you!
