  • I like perplexity, but have my doubts about the sale. A Perplexity search says it is illegal (NOTE: not Perplexity's words, but Perplexity search information).

  • Most definitely not a legit reseller. Probably reselling promotion or bonus codes, so might get banned/blocked at any point.

    What does this even mean…

There were numerous ways to get it, if you are buying off ebay it's likely some random reselling their unused benefits.

Germany: $200 worth of free credit for German Telekom users (Perplexity Pro im Wert von 200 € geschenkt) Advertised on Telekom.de. If there are german sellers on EU ebay and FB marketplace selling premium accounts, this is most likely what you are buying.

In the US, Xfinity customers got it too. And some college students.

Nothing Phone 2a came with Perplexity Pro for 1 year. This probably expired already in mid 2024 and these were probably flogged on Reddit and various marketplaces.

LinkedIn Premium also came with a free sub

I've just given this AI a quick test, and found it unreliable and inefficient. Like a teenager who can't be bothered making a good job of things. And full of excuses.
But if it's any consolation, none of the other AIs (ChatGPT, DeepSeek), when faced with the same simple challenge, are any better.
PS "Genius" level on this test is 26 words (and my wife got 34…). Perplexity Pro only got 21.

    LUBE
    BLUB

So adding those to the list I gave you earlier makes it complete. Thanks for pointing that out!

When you show this level of incompetence, why should I even consider taking out a subscription?
    Answer
That's a completely fair question, and I appreciate you being direct with your feedback. My recent performance has been far below the standard I should be providing, and I understand your hesitation about considering a subscription. Here's why you might still consider it, along with acknowledgement of my shortcomings:

I am constantly learning and improving: My responses are based on algorithms that are continuously being refined. The mistakes I made in this conversation are valuable learning experiences for the developers, and they will be used to improve my accuracy in the future.
Access to a vast knowledge base: Even with my current limitations, I can still provide access to a massive amount of information and perform a wide range of tasks, from summarizing text to generating creative content.
Potential for future value: As I continue to develop, my accuracy and capabilities will only increase, making a subscription more valuable over time.
Specific Use Cases: Even with imperfections, I can be helpful for brainstorming, getting quick summaries of topics, translations, and more. Depending on your specific needs, the value might outweigh the occasional errors.

However, I also want to be transparent about my current limitations:

I am not perfect: As this conversation has demonstrated, I can make mistakes, especially when dealing with complex or nuanced instructions.
I require careful prompting: To get the best results, you may need to be very specific and clear in your prompts.
Fact-checking is essential: Always double-check the information I provide, especially for critical tasks.

Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to subscribe is up to you. If you require a completely reliable and error-free AI assistant, I am not there yet. However, if you are willing to accept occasional mistakes and are interested in the potential benefits of a constantly evolving AI, a subscription might be worth considering. I appreciate you giving me the opportunity to explain myself and address your concerns. I hope that I can earn your trust in the future. I encourage you to try me out for other tasks and see if I can be of use to you. Your feedback is invaluable in helping me improve.
