Vineyards: This Cabernet Sauvignon is a 50/50 blend of two vineyards. The Picnic Grounds vineyard located on Kay’s Road and the Symonds Vineyard located in Whites Valley, a warmer subregion of McLaren Vale between Willunga and Sellicks Hill.
Soils: The Picnic Ground vineyard is on Maslin Sands, aged between 34 and 56 million years old. Symonds soil is Urrbrae Loam, which is loam over red clay part of the Christies Beach Formation from the Pleistocene period between 11,000 and 2.6m years ago.
Vintage: The 2024 growing season was cooler than average conditions. The mild and dry season allowed for even ripening with minimal disease pressure after veraison. The reds have exceptional colour, intensity and great fruit expression
Winemaking: Crushed and destemmed. Static stainless steel fermenter. Yeast type: Uvaferm BDX. 9 days on skins. 100% Seasoned French Oak Hogsheads for 8 months.
Nose: The nose displays beautifully complex notes of plums, blackberries and a hint of cassis.
Palate: The palate is soft, smooth and well-rounded with plenty of blackberries and plums.
Cellar: Drink now to 2027
