Help Needed, How to Connect Speakers to TV?

Hi Ozbargin, was gifted these speakers but don’t know how to connect them to tv? Based on research it seems I need to buy an amplifier that can connect centre, left/right and subwoofer? If possible looking for a 2nd hand or marketplace listing? TV has an ARC hdmi and optical.

Yes, you need an amplifier, probably better invest in a sound bar.

Bin them. That's an outdated proprietary system.

Sorry they're not worth a cent. A soundbar will be a better option.

As long as you don't care about sound quality - sound bars are ok - just a step above inbuilt TV speakers.

Oh yes, but far better than the speakers that the OP has.

Ideally they'd get an ATMOS amp and a discrete 5.1 system.

"Discrete 5.1" in a sound bar!…was this ment to be a joke?

Just old Panasonic home theater in a box junk speakers. As above, just put the money towards a sound bar. The sound will be just as good, possible convenience of one remote and not having dust magnets littered around your tv.

Some of those old systems had an amp and speaker outputs built into the subwoofer. Not sure about this model.

Edit: no it doesn't. The model is SB-HW190

If you insist on getting an amp you can just cut the green plugs off the wires, work out which is positive and negative and put them into the back of an amp.

    Obviously, they don't like you…

As above, this speakers are junk. If you want buy a used amp and then snip off the green plugs and positive and negative those speakers into the amp

Personally I’d buy the soundbar because those speakers will be junk

Got it, speakers going in the bin and will save up for a proper soundbar thanks all!

  • Looks like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVb4IyTW69E
It probably connects straight to a blu ray player. If you still have the blu ray player component of it I'd actually plug it in and test it out, see what your TV sounds like connected over the optical/toslink input, or if there's any other way to input sound. 600W, I bet they don't sound too bad, probably more powerful than most soundbars out there in the world. Ask whoever gave it to you if they have the blu ray player still.

This kid is having fun with his Panasonic subwoofer about the same size https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NhqATFSjsW0

  • You need to buy a tape deck and gift it to them
