Sliding Gate Issue - Doesn't Close

Hi

I got a new sliding door motor installed 6 months ago. Found the guy on Airtasker to come around and do it. He gave me an invoice for it with a warranty etc. He installed the gate and it worked fine for some time. Now everytime it closes - it reaches the end but then bounces back and re-opens, back to the original position.
I reached out to the guy , Dean R, who had installed it but he is ignoring me. I should have known better.

I am also not sure either if its a warranty issue , installation or a setting that needs to be worked on.

Can you suggest some ideas or workarounds to fix this issue? The motor is a Centurion Centsys D5.

Thanks

    • Thanks, not too confident opening the motor but will has to give this a go now that I have tried the easier options such as giving the track a good clean

It just needs a sensitivity/limit adjustment. I had to do our garage door recently as it would hit the ground and reopen. Took a few minutes to Google the model number, RTFM and set the new limit adjustment.

Edit : I missed it. Looks like Roger is all over it. Too easy. It could possibly help with this as well

Is there an obstruction at the end of the track, such as small rocks, sand, or dirt?

Try hosing down the area to clean it up and see if that resolves the issue.

Adjusting the sensitivity unnecessarily can lead to the gate forcing its way over a small rock, potentially damaging the sliding gate.

Experience a power loss recently? Happens to our warehouse roller door all the time, just had to program the limits again and it’s back to normal.

    • Don’t think so but It has a backup battery involved be ok in such an event

  • In addition to the above 2 comments check that the drive mechanism isn't slipping/skipping at any point, this will cause it to lose track of where it is and run into or short of the close/open position.

    • It does hit a bracket on the wall slightly. It was doing this earlier as well when it was working fine but perhaps it’s become worse now. I will have to fiddle with the bracket see if that helps

Spray the rail with wd40-silicon type, make sure you get the silicon type.

  • Thanks, I cleared up the rails via a a blower and hose pipe and applied silicon on them this weekend to see if it fixes the issues. There was certain debris such as leaves as dirt which needed to be removed

However the issue still exists. I have a feeling that when it’s about to close, it is meant to slide into a bracket. This bracket might have moved slightly and causing some resistance. I will try and upload a video to see if you guys think this can be the problem

I am not confident in opening up the motor to adjust the force sensitivity And not sure if it needs reprogramming as
It opens and stops fine. Might have to do this if the bracket adjustment doesn’t help
