    Can you activate the sim in Australia before you arrive in your destination?

      Most of our eSIMs (except the US eSIM) can be installed in Australia and will auto-activate upon arrival at your destination.

      For the US eSIM, we recommend installing it after you arrive in the US.

      For physical simcards, we recommend inserting them upon arrival at your destination for auto-activation.

        @Simpower - I'm travelling to Japan in March - if I buy a 30 day esim now and install it, will the 30 days start on arrival in Japan or from when I install it?
        Also, is hot spot sharing allowed with the Japan esim? Thanks

          Hi @howdydood, thanks for your enquiry.

          If you install the eSIM now, it will start on arrival in Japan, not now (while in Australia). However, we highly recommend you only install it in Australia a few days before departure, as we found some customers need to change their phone before departure. This eSIM does not allow re-installation onto another phone.

          For hotspot, yes, this eSim allow hotspot sharing.

      My experience with an esim is you activate it before you arrive and when you get off the plane it already works. Saved me a lot of hassle on my europe trip last year.

      While you can buy a sim at destination, our sims let you start using data immediately upon arrival — no need to waste time searching for a provider at the airport.

      In our experience, airport sim prices tend to be much higher. Our deals are competitive, convenient, and great value!

      For China, our sim allows access to Google, Facebook etc. The local China sims blocks access to Google or all western social medias.

      📌 More time travelling, less time searching for sims! ✈️😊

        I would never suggest to buy a sim at the airport anyway. I'm talking about once you leave the airport walk into a convenience store & buy one there.

        So it sounds like I'm right, thanks. Will just buy one like a local would.

          It depends where really.. generally you wouldn't know where to find the good deals like a local would. Eg, for Australia as a local, I would go to the Coles/Woolies and look for the heavily discounted Lebara/Amaysim/etc startup kits.. it's pretty normal to find $30 kits discounted to like $8. Most visitors would have no idea. If you go to a convenience store here, you'd most likely be ripped off and pay full price.

      Thanks for your feedback! We’re not aware of such a deal, but please note that some “unlimited” plans have hidden restrictions - such as speed caps after reaching a daily limit. It’s always a good idea to ask or check the fine print.

      That said, we’ll be launching a true 5G unlimited data Japan eSIM in the next few weeks - stay tuned! 😊

    The Europe plans look expensive. I know the calls and an extra 10gb included for the 30 days 30 GB plan but there’s a $20 difference with the escape sim plans posted here.

      Calls and SMS are premium features in travel sims compared to data-only sims, which contributes to the price difference. Additionally, the extra 10GB of data adds to the cost.

      Beyond that, our "Europe UK - EU 30GB + UK Unlimited" plan includes unlimited UK data and covers a total of 71 countries, including Singapore, Hong Kong, the USA, and New Zealand etc, whereas the Escape SIM plan covers only 33 countries.

      That said, we’ll be launching a Europe UK data-only SIM plan that will match Escape SIM offering. Stay tuned!
