Upgrading from iPhone 12 Pro to Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

Hello everyone, after hearing all the negatives about the S25 ultra from mkbhd to mrwhosetheboss, I understand that it's not a significant upgrade from last year. That's what we're seeing in iPhone too lately.

Should I still go ahead with purchase? Main problem is sometimes my iPhone stops responding after recent updates and obviously found Android gets things done with less taps. Oneplus 13 and Xperia I'm afraid will not work with Aussie Telcos.

If you are happy to go Android then the S25 ultra would be amazing.

The S24 Ultra is a fabulous phone - user experience is so great, from using the fantastic display, to responsiveness, taking great photos and battery life.

So what if S25 is not hugely better. More of the same is great!

Any Android upgrade from an iPhone is better.

Buying an S24 is probably an easy way to save a huge amount for not much difference.

If you're going from a 12 to ultra it'll be a big upgrade.

Main issue I think you'd have is value. You've missed out on most of the preorders where you could get the s25 ultra for $900 or so. Once it starts going above $1000 I think the value proposition starts going pretty quickly.

    • Aren't the pre orders still on? And how could I get it for less than $900? Didn't see any of the deals where the total amount including discount will make 512gb or 1tb at this price? Maybe I'm missing something here.

I've got the S25 Ultra and it's a very good phone. Its crazy fast at everything and battery has been good for me (but I came from S22 Ultra which had bad battery life). Camera is really good but the AI feels like it isn't the finished product yet. From an iPhone 12 its a big upgrade.

Hey mate, check the OnePlus Reddit group. Aussie users have confirmed the 13 works with Vodafone, Optus and Telstra. Vendors have also advised they formal Optus/Voda certification will be completed in coming weeks.

I'm happily using my OnePlus 6T (needed to do some trickery to get VoLTE/VoWiFi working) with Vodafone. Wife's OnePlus 13T also works (also had to do a bit of hackery).

They work fine, but it was a bit of a pain getting them to work correctly - so stay away unless you enjoy hair pulling your hair for a few hours.
