Netflix Not Letting Me Pay via Netflix Gift Card Despite Using AU Account

I currently have a $12.99 Netflix account or is it $13.99 now? Either way with 1 screen. I don't do any of the overseas VPN stuff too much trouble and too many dramas. I don't need any extra screens and share it with my parents.
Whenever I see a cheap gift card come up and my credit is nearing expiry I just buy some to get an extra 10% or so discount.
So I see one come up today from Amazon and I go to add it to my account and I cannot use the gift card unless I change my plan. What a joke, I should be able to pay however I bloody like!

Yes I should leave Netflix but I do enjoy their service and shows but this really annoys me without warning too for that matter.

Anyone else come across this?

    You should be redeeming it from the membership page -> Redeem gift or promo code

      I'm on the old plan you can't get anymore.
      It's 1 screen no ads.
      That's the reason they don't want me to use the gift card.

        somewhere else on this site someone just commented the same thing, saying you can’t use Netflix giftcards on cheaper old subs. can’t be bothered to find the comment to link sorry.

      Looks like it was in fact 7 consecutive days and not 5 as you suggested. I didn’t argue the 5 though and the board has said it’s now too late to change it back to 7…
