Did someone say a price match it bring it $1016~

        • nah, don't think they will price match coupon code. :-)

          • @mmcs: Ex Bunnings employee.

Have had done to me, have done it myself.
            We don’t really care.

            Maybe I should’ve.

@Zuelly: what a pity, you should keep working for bunnings. We really need you! :-)

        • Nobody said that

  • Good price.

  • Do these cameras have rtsp?

    • +1

Nope, they are solar. So only record on motion.

      • +3

Thanks, I suspected that was the case. I guess buyer beware if that is a requirement. With everything going on with thefts and break-ins, I now prefer 24/7 recording so would rather run cables for cameras than use a wireless system that triggers late and misses half the action. And at the price of the E330 that supports 24/7 recording, it's worth considering a full wired NVR system that does away with wireless connections too.

    • There is an option to enable but I
      Wouldn’t use it

Comes with a free backdoor to allow anyone access to your camera feed, no subscription needed!

    • +3

Who doesn't love a good free backdoor?

      • +4

Can I subscribe to your back door?

    • +3

      [citation needed]

    • Not exactly relevant anymore.

Your right about the no sub though. Unlike some of the competition that needs it for basic functions.

At least Eufy works, unlike the POS Arlo models that could be disabled remotely by Arlo anytime they felt like doing a 'system upgrade'.

      • Saying "Not exactly relevant anymore" is bs since the fact they did it in the first place and only walked it back once they were called out on it shows everything you need to know about the company's mentality and ethics

While the S330 are ok cameras, the motion detection can be so so unless they are mounted high. The detect area is very much 'below' the camera.

Look at the E330 camera kit instead. They do require power, but offer 24/7 recording and are far better for motion detection. This kit is often on sale at JB for $1100. Currently not, but give it a week and it'll be back on sale.

I have a mix of both cameras with a HB3. Ask away if you have Qs

      • What do you think versus s220?

The S220 are the baby brothers to the S330, so similar detection issues. Be ok if you put them up high.

    • +1

Fair point but really, not being able to wire them in is the whole point of these solar cameras, right? I have these and find them excellent for what they are - no wires, no recharging, really good video quality compared to my old Arlo system, good app. Motion detection is ok, not amazing but good enough IMHO - mine never misses a human.

      • Fair point but really, not being able to wire them in is the whole point of these solar cameras, right?

Correct, which is why I have a mix of S330 and E330 cameras. As some places don't have power.

and find them excellent for what they are - no wires, no recharging, really good video quality

Also correct, but check your solar panels after 10 months before the warranty is out, as they all peel :/

Once they start to peel the solar doesn't charge as well, then they go flat. I've got one that is dropping battery % now, so need to get up and check the panel on it. Guessing it has started to peel.

Motion detection is ok, not amazing but good enough IMHO - mine never misses a human.

This is the biggest issue with the S330 units. While they might not 'miss' a human, generally that human has to be well into the PIR detection area. So the video of them is very short. The S330 doesn't like detecting the top half of the image I've found.

Compare this to the e330 that doesn't have any PIR sensor to trigger movement, but instead is processing the image, you can get people detected in the top corner of the picture far away.

I have both looking out the back for testing, my E330 has detected me far in the distance and sends an alert to my phone before the S330 has even thought about seeing me. The E330 will detect me at the top of the video frame and flag the entire walk towards it, while the S330 will only flag me once I'm in the bottom half of the viewable image, so much shorter recording time.

As above, if you can go the E330 kit and wire them in, they are much better. The S330 are ok, but motion is limited.

We started with S330 but added some E330 and really wished I went the other way now. Started with 4 E330 cameras.

Yet don’t record when the power is cut, making them a little useless.

      • Run your POE router to an ups. I currently run the home base off the ups, otherwise it will also not record anything when power is out.

      • +2

Yet don’t record when the power is cut, making them a little useless.

Most systems don't record when the power is cut.

If your thief's have planned ahead enough to cut your power, they have planned to wear a hoodie/ski mask. Making the cameras near useless.

But you can pop each device onto a 12c DC UPS and they'll stay up.

        • I hear you, but a brand like Eufy has the battery tech. Why remove the battery backup, that they had on older models? Have done it with the Homebase too.

          • @Pratty: Not sure why they dropped the battery backup. But you can add a 12v DC UPS to the system to keep the HB up and running if you want to. They are pretty cheap.

Cameras are more to allow you to see what happened, like this

            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MM45uR2Rmc&t=1020s

Didn't stop the car being stolen. :(

  • I thought the Pros were selling for less than this quite recently.

I have basic eufy 2c camera but they aren’t great, thikk im going to upgrade to a wired reolink system

    • I'm moving away from a Tapo system that I was impressed with initially, but now finding I'm missing more and more. I'm also looking at the Reolink NVR systems for 24/7 recording and no need for wireless connections.

      • Yes and I have a lot of false positive with the eufy system. I haven’t looked into it much but believe you can integrate AI with the reolink cameras to get better detection

I intend to run it all through home assistant

        • +1

Same here, lots of false positives and missing what I need. I realised my old Swann system worked exactly the way I needed it to, so the Reolink with the higher resolution and some AI built into it will give me the best of both worlds. I have read somewhere that Reolinks don't always play nicely with HA

          • @keongyip: Yeah I do need to do some more research, I believe you can run some kind of different software or something through the NVR but apparently it works well enough with HA

            • @Brick50: I think that's frigate. Good AI but I think limited compatibility with the Reolinks

      • Any specific reolink sets to recommend? Thanks

      • Hey - what are some of the key things you’re missing in Tapo?

I just set up a Tapo system 5x C510 models with high endurance SD cards and they all seem to work really well. It’s been about 4 months. I mean it records in good quality (2K), tracks motion well enough and costs about $600 in total for 5x cameras with SD cards and a used mesh network on top! The app seems really well designed and the best thing is, I can easily add more cameras at different locations not even at my main home … and it’s all in one app.

Anyways, I know others have done more research… putting it out there for discussion.

        • Interesting to see other systems being recommended.

What's the app experience like? Work remotely?

Would be interested to see how long the SD cards last. They certainly didnt in a PI so 12months or so was about the limit even on high endurance cards.

Am also highly disappointed with Eufy, hit and miss motion detection and late notifications, contacted CS and they said warranty is expired so need to buy new . 3 years old cams! Compared to a Amazon unbranded ones who replaced my camera after 2 years!

  • Whats the lowest this price has been?

  • +1

I have had an issue with mine though. But they seem to keep replacing them. Not sure about what happened this time since it was purchased Nov 2022. It looks like water has managed to get into the solar panel area and it doesn’t charge the camera anymore.

Support said to take it back to the good guys and they should replace it since it should do that and is a defect, but it’s technically out of warranty.

Also the other thing to note is to never let it go completely flat, I’ve had one brick itself from a solar panel flaking issue as people above had as well. If you then reset it trying to get it to work, it will go into a boot loop and won’t let you get it set up again. (Luckily it was a spare that started working again after it got replaced.)

Last issue I’ve had was something with the night mode setting stuffing up and everything sometimes goes with a shade of pink, even during the day. But was replaced too.

Support is good though in the warranty period. I’ve only purchased 2 but I’ve managed to get a total of 1x bricked recently, 1x that doesn’t charge but still works if you charge by cord so I’m using indoors now for the dogs, and 4x working ones. They just keep replacing them for me every time there is an issue, then they start working again resets itself.

Also the one with the dead solar panel, it will work as a battery camera if you plug in one of those cheap solar panels from Amazon. I’ve been thinking of using it for under the carport, and have it plugged into an external solar panel.

  • Good all in one wire free solution.

Tried to install a set at my parents but not feasible, all the locations are either under eaves or angled away from sun.

End up getting the always on model, as they prefer not to regularly check and worry about batteries.

  • These aren't terrible but I'd recommend a Reolink setup over this. They are awesome bang for buck, especially if you run them on PoE.

  • +2

While I haven't used these - I have a 4 pack of 2C pros on a HB2 that I got for $400 from the EUFY store as refurbs.

I'm in two minds about them after a couple of years use. First and foremost, obviously they are bloody fantastic to use going from no cameras. The software is pretty good and in my shitty suburb I have recorded stuff I'm glad I did. It was also a relatively painless exercise getting them installed in the 4 corners of my home. I also bought solar panels for them on temu but they never really worked - not sure why.

The cons are that no matter what anyone says, having to pull the ladder out to bring them down to charge is a right pain in the arse. If the solar panels on these devices work as described that would be absolutely bloody awesome. But I think my main issue is that as they are totally reliant on the software picking up events, you WILL miss things. I've had a couple of situations where events have happened well within the recording area but for whatever reason was completely missed. It's a really shitty feeling to rely on them for evidence or understanding of what happened only for the history to be blank.

Hence IMO for almost $1200, most people would be totally kidding themselves to go battery. I can't imagine a comparable setup + installation would run you much more than this, while providing an absolutely incomparable experience of guaranteed 24x7 recording. It will be that one event that's missed that you'll kick yourself over and swear off your purchase. Just my 2c from experience.

    • I have a Ring system with 8 cams, 6 out and 2 in. The 6 cams outside are battery cams with cheap Temu solar panels and they are on 100% battery all day every day. Drop a little over night of course but back up again every morning. Even on cloudy days. I've yet to have many days of heavy rain but even then the batteries do last a few weeks + Also have one of those cheap ebay router UPS batteries so even if someone cuts the power off at the main box they all still record fine. And do 24/7 if you want.

Maybe you got the wrong panels for your batteries. There are different options.

And I used to miss events as the Ring system was set to detect people. I set it to people AND movement and beefed the sensitivity up and haven't missed anything yet. Well that I know of. I did have to go through the settings of each cam and set areas around moving trees and bushes in the wind to cut down on false reports.

Anyway, much better system than the Swann system I had previously, that had the worst app EVER and missed everything. Seriously last straw was a delivery guy dropped off a parcel and the Swann system recorded 2 seconds of him walking away. None of him driving in, getting out, getting the large box out of his van and walking up, just 2 seconds of his back..

I heard Eufy has some security issues where the video feeds are unencryed and can be hijacked by others, does anybody know if that is true? Thanks.

      Google will help you out

  • Still killed by a wifi jammer and/or turning your power off.
