Beers are really starting to get weirdly specific about use case

  • I thought Deeds closed?

    • +4

They're the John Farnham of the beer world.

    • They pretty much have, they just kept the taproom open for a few months to get rid of the last stock, they're shutting for good at the end of this month.

      • I was there last night and spoke to staff, despite an email saying end of Feb closing, the person at the bar said it's now end of March?

4.2% is the new hidden shrinkflation.

      At least "beer is heavy"

    • Wait, what was the percentage of Pale Ales before the shrinkflation?

      • +1

If I take Carlton Draught as a generic beer from years ago it is 4.6.
Most beer was 4.6-5% back before alcohol excise was increased quarterly

        • Alright. Nowadays Hazy Pale Ales/IPAs is where its at. High percentage and great taste.

  • Delivery kills it. Cellarbrations has been doing Bad Shepherd pale ale for $59 a slab for ages, and it's slightly better than this IMO

  • Such a shame, Deeds was genuinely one of the best breweries in Australia. As well as this Pale Ale, this is your last chance to pick up some of their amazing Barrel Aged Imperial Stouts and Barleywines from their online store. Don't be put off by the high price of a single can — these are beers for sharing with two or three other people, 150ml is the right sized serving.
