I've been watching for a price drop on these headphones. Catch.com.au has dropped them from $335 to $301.50. There is a sitewide $10 off code (FURTHER10) to bring them down to $291.50. If you have OnePass membership shipping is free. You can start a free 30 day trial of OnePass if you haven't signed up before.

Very nice price indeed
Haha, I had just searched past 0zB prices for these and the xm5.
And?
$284 just before Christmas although Sony eBay has frequently sold seconds and refurbs for $254.
But the best price around at the moment,
I swear by these. I love my MX4s.
They are useless on bus's with noise reduction turned on. Make all these loud explosion noises. It's something to do with a combination of bumps due to hard suspension and air pressure in a closed bus.
Maybe you have a faulty pair, nobody wants explosions! I'd go for a warranty claim. Have you tried sitting in a different seat or opening the bus window!
What's the noise cancellation like at home?
Something is wrong with your pair. I use mine all the time with public transport and they are fantastic.
Hmm I didn't have this issue with my old xm2
I use my pair almost exclusively on the bus and I don't experience the issues you're describing. The only problem I do have is when the bus goes over really big bumps and the audio goes a bit wobbly but it's a minor issue.
Definitely get yours checked if you are still under warranty. Mine have never let me down on public transport and they've held up really well on flights too.
I've sometimes had a similar issue with the MX3s. In my case it was the inner layer of foam was a bit loose. The sound of it moving is very loud. Can be fixed by opening up the cans and re-adjusting / resetting the foam layer.
Not ATL, but very good price if you are waiting to grab one now.
Pretty close actually - New Amazon $294.00 (Dec 12, 2023) https://au.camelcamelcamel.com/product/B08F4XTS93?context=se…
Thanks for the correction, I was not aware of that.
They were 280 at JB much more recently
Do you think Officeworks would price match at $291.50 to take it down to $276.93 with their 5% price beat?
No… You used a coupon
They would match at $301.50 (listed price) down to $286.43
I've got an old pair of WH-1000XM2's.
Are these worth the upgrade? My old one works fine, but I'm going to Europe later in the year and that's a fair bit of flight time there and back so I'm pondering whether it's worth upgrading to something newer and better or if my current set will do.
Yes. Definitely
Even XM3s would be a very good upgrade - I've had mine for many years and the battery life is still great. I also have 2 pairs of the MS Surface2, one at work, one at home, but always take the XM3 in the car and while on planes. The noise cancelling is notably better than the Surface cans - and smaller/closer to the head, which makes a difference on a plane.
Thanks OP
possible flushing inventory ahead of XM6 announcement soon-ishStill love the foldable design, with on par noise-cancellation with XM5
Catch is flushing inventory ahead of their closing in April.
Catch will close before the WH-1000XM6 release, despite pre-prod units are already in cert. (Think announce in May or so, and then release after.)
Note the XM5 and XM6 (at least what I saw) hinges dont allow for folding to my recollection.
Good price, but after getting the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Headphones for $198.95, I’m not interested in any other headphone deals.
That was a short lived pricing error it seem.
They are great, but NEVER sweat in them. The slightest bit of moisture will damage the microphones and result in ear splitting high pitch screaming.
In their defence they are marketed as commuter headphones not work out ones. Mine have survived a number of hot summer days in the sun with definite sweat, maybe there's an unlucky weak spot for moisture.
I really hope they don't discontinue these, I actually much prefer them over their newer XM5 counterparts, both for sound profile, portability and general comfort. XM5s are still good but these just seem to win out.
Also can we just appreciate we have premium, flag ship level headphones with active noise cancellation, its own carry case and accessories for under $300? Its been a while since I have seen a product progress its affordability in a really long time… these were what like $600-700 when released?
That's a good price
