Sorry OP but that price for a restricted cinema ticket that expires next month isn’t much of a deal to me.

Of further concern is the 1.0 rating for this ‘deal’.

Also fix your misleading title - the price isn’t for a movie, popcorn, and drink voucher. Combined the purchase price isn’t $28!

Not a good deal and your title is super misleading

  • Didn’t know Groupon still exists….

    • Maybe scoopon is too…

Seems like the only Event Cinemas in VIC is Moonlight Cinema Melbourne which is excluded from this deal (Not valid for Skyline Drive-In, Moonlight Cinema, IMAX Sydney or Village Cinemas) …. hence a useless deal for those of us based in VIC !

    • +2

The title should reflect the states it's available in. Ie. not us in Victoria!

    Thanks OP. Brought 2

    • You signed up to post that comment lol

  • Warning! I bought 2 vouchers (also waited 2 hours for the validation period) and both of them came back as invalid. I spoke to customer support and they have escalted the case which they will get back to be in 48 - 72 hours.

Dissappointing as I wanted to use the vouchers tomorrow. Buyers bewarned.

Hi anarkyz, sorry for the bad experience. Could you please send me a private message with your email linked to your Groupon account? We would like to get in touch directly. There was a bug on our website, but it has been reported, and the team is already working on a fix.

      • Hi Serzi05, I am having similar issue. I don't have a Groupon account, but bought 2 voucher on Tuesday (both of them worked and I booked seats for a movie, very happy). I bought another 1 voucher just now (half an hour ago), but this 1 doesn't work. Anything you could do about it?

      • +1

After comparing the vouchers, I noticed the ones bought on Tuesday has 4 digit pins, the one I received today has a 3 digit pin … (I would assume this could be the reason why it was invalid)

Hi JYao, can you please send me the email you used for the purchase and the order ID of the voucher that didn't work?

        • Hi JYao,

I haven’t start purchase it but unsure if it help. When I read the voucher from my nrma it mentioned some of the voucher come with 4 digits pin and some might come with 3 digits pin. For 3 digits pin you have to put 0 in front of your 3 digits pin. Which I believe the Groupon might be the same. Try to put a 0 in front to make it 4 digits see if it work.

TLDR: 1. the deal is legit and saved me some money compared to paying the original price, 2. the Groupon system might issue invalid voucher due to a glitch, 3. the Groupon team did provided pretty good customer support and rectified the issue, 4. the voucher is not refundable

Just a quick update to share my experience with buying Event Cinema vouchers via Groupon.

I'm based in QLd, my family bought a total of 6 vouchers (3 by me as guest without Groupon account, 3 by a family member with Groupon, it was to split the cost) last week on Friday to see a movie tonight at Mt Gravatt.
With the 3 bought over Groupon account, they all worked, everything was fine.
With the 3 bought by me without Groupon, 2 of them worked, 1 didn't work (it had a 3 digit pin, instead of a 4 digit pin), so had to buy 1 full priced ticket over the counter.

Got in touch with the Groupon rep (in the comment section on Friday late night and later via DM on Saturday late night), and received a reply from a Groupon rep about an hour ago.
They sent me the correct 4 digit pin code this time, I've checked to see if it works online, it did.
I asked via email if this voucher can be refunded, got a reply saying it is not refundable.
It's unfortunate that the reply came after we finished watching the movie tonight, so I'm now left with 1 working voucher and will need to find another movie to watch before the voucher expires at the end of the month

I'm overall satisfied with the support from the representatives from Groupon (both in the comment section and in my email conversation).
The time taken to resolve my issue was about 2 days and a bit, so pretty decent, given it's also over the weekend.
The fine print did say the voucher was not refundable, so can't say much about it, but a bit unfortunate for me on this occassion.

Hopefully, my experience will help you in deciding whether to go for this deal or not :)

    • You are satisfied?
      That is screaming red flags.

Well, I am satisfied and I represent only myself.
You are free to feel differently.

        • You must be easy to please, I don't have time to be messing around chasing companies for giftcards that don't work.
