It's zinc but in a tablet, something Robert F. Kennedy Jr would approve of.

Price matching/beating Woolworths this week which sells it for $9.75.

    • +1

$6.5/g (at WWs) and $6.33/g (at Amazon), 5-6x more expensive than Wagner's zinc CW currently sells for $1.67, and sells for as low as $1.39.

And gluconate at that, which has higher bioavailability.

These tablets have 30mg of B6
The vitamin B6 RDA is about 2mg.
Be very careful if you take this vitamin as there can be neurological adverse affects over a long term.

    • I just noticed the blackmores brand of Zinc has 50 mg of B6. I only take one every now and then. Could it be harmful?

    • +2

Do you have a source for that? The first thing I found says different: https://www.webmd.com/vitamins/ai/ingredientmono-934/pyridox…

    • Appreciate the insights and a bit alarming see I have these AND take a 'ZMA' which also has B6.

ChatGPT Confirms I am taking in high ranges which could be anything over 10mg+

      Vitamin B6 Safety Levels
RDI for adult men (Australia): 1.3 mg per day

Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL): 50 mg per day (for adults, as set by the National Health and Medical Research Council in Australia)

Toxicity risk: Chronic intake above 200–500 mg per day may cause neuropathy (nerve damage), numbness, and loss of coordination.

these have a low level of Zinc as well - i would buy something better

    • +2

High intake of Zinc over long period will deplete copper

      • +1

If you fail to take copper, sure. Just drink water left overnight in a copper bottle or cup, done.

      • Here the paper https://sci-hub.se/10.1136/jclinpath-2014-202837 ( doses range from 20 - 180 mg/day )

        • +1

"Depletes" is the wrong term — and yes it's widely used — bc what happens is that the body uses zinc and copper together, similarly to sodium and potassium, to D3 and K2… It's not overdose of one; it's underdose of the other.

    • Zinc Safety Levels
RDI for adult men (Australia): 14 mg per day

Tolerable Upper Intake Level (UL): 40 mg per day (for adults, as set by the National Health and Medical Research Council in Australia)

Toxicity risk: Chronic intake above 100–150 mg per day may cause copper deficiency, immune suppression, and neurological issues. Acute toxicity from doses above 200 mg may lead to nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain.

These are dosed as zinc 25mg (zinc amino acid chelate 125 mg) so its resonable and tolerable. However you are probably better to find a Oyster Extract (Natural Zinc) if you can tolerate shellfish.

I would look for zinc gluconate, as it safer ( doesn't has B6 )

  • +1

For the people worried about B6 and excessive or under consumption of nutrients in general, I highly recommend the freemium Cronometer..

A good way to use it is to track your consumption, food and vitamins, for about a week every few months, whenever you make major changes to your diet, or with a doctor/dietician. It's especially good to do so leading up to an annual blood test, then again after - you will learn a lot.

  • Aim for one without Vit B6 as others mentioned above, or ensure you don't have other supplements with it added. Check, lots do, including some pre-workouts etc.
