YouTube Premium in 2025

I used to have an Argentinian YTP account which was ended by YT. Then I switched to YTVanced and had a great time, but I've now switched to an iPhone so have lost the option to use Vanced.

I can't seem to find any recent posts about the best way to get cheaper YTP accounts - I honestly cannot believe the cost they are charging for the Australian price! More than multiple streaming services for a family account.

    • Oh whoops I only saw the single part, didn't know it was family too! Thread closed!

    • Yep, Apple working good for me.

      • Yea this is a good workaround. Under $100 for a yearly family sub.

f paying for youtube, install brave browser and you can watch all the ad free video til your hearts content. Brave browser blocks all the stupid ads on youtube and the best thing is you can switch it so to can play in bakground meaning you can lock the phone or computer and the youtube videos will still play which i have and stream to my cars bluetooth audio system… and no ads EVER! stop paying for sh17 and get Brave. TODAY!

Most people watch YouTube on mobile and televisions.

yeah like i said it works on phone, cause thats what i do, i stream it from my phone to my cars bluetooth while screen is locked. BAM

        • oh nice I'll give this a go - this is the exact reason why I want it, the ads while driving are killing me

          • +3

@Shaddolf: just make sure you go to settings in the brave browser and set "background play" on and you are set. find the youtube videos you want to listen to before driving play and bam, ad free audio over car audio. even the car back and forward functions work for next video skip.

Brave works on phone as mentioned. For TV use smarttube.

I can't believe in 2025 we still need to promote this. It should be common knowledge by now.

        • But will smarttube work with Hisense (VIDAA) TVs?

          • +1

@montorola: No. You will need and android based stick like Chromecast or Amazon fire stick.

            • @MS Paint: Thanks, I have a firestick so will go via that route. Cheers

@montorola: Plenty of tutorials online on how to install smarttube.

Firefox + uBlockOrigin + Sponsorblock = no ads and it is free

  • but I've now switched to an iPhone so have lost the option to use Vanced.

so switch back to android, if not then use Youtube in Brave browser

  • Share a sub? I sell 2 of my spots out from my family account and it works out to be about $6 / month for a person.

Why pay at all when it can be free so easily?

      • I watch it on my TV, not in my browser.

        • So do I. Is it an android powered TV? Or do you have fire stick, Google tv etc?

          • @MS Paint: via Apple TV.

            • @uncompressed: That's the price you pay then for using apple devices.

              • @MS Paint: I have an android TV and I am sick of the price I pay to google. I already bought the TV and they keep feeding me homescreen ads I can't disable….

It has made me want an Apple TV at least they do not shove ads down your throat

                • @Boioioioi: Install a new launcher. You don't have to use the default manufacturer rubbish.

  • I had the same thing happen and dumped premium entirely. I think it's worth the $2-$3 a month I was paying, but $10+ definitely not. Was so sick of their bullshit youtube shorts and horrible recommendations.
