I have this model, only negative feedback.

    Grinder easily makes a mess
The steamer is insanely loud, like pain in the ears screeching loud.

I thought it makes good coffee?

I used to have a different sunbeam, and the screeching I experienced was from putting the wand too deep into the milk. Not sure if this is what's happening with yours, but if you fully submerge the wand, try lifting it higher so it's not right in and see if that helps.

I always use it quite high up to begin with until it froths to the level I want. The sound should be just on the cusp of no bubble sound and bubble sound. Like a cafe froth sound. This was around 1cm deep. Once I get the froth I want, I put the wand in so it's just fully submerged (around 2cm deep) and not creating the bubble sound.

      Hope this helps.

      I have this too.
Yes the grinder can spill, though it comes with shroud for that purpose.
Yes the frothing wand can be screechy if you don’t position at that right height when starting the milk froth.

Does it make a really good cup of coffee? Yes

This machine is way better than sunbeam equivalents, the same coffee just tastes better.

    • I have a different coffee machine and a different grinder. It's objectively good and makes great coffee many times a day. The coffee grinder will easily spill half a gram of grounds every time unless I use a "collar" (I found a magnetic one that fits on eBay for under $10), and I've seen people use those but still send grounds flying.

Steam wands will always screech when hot steam hits cold metal so watch some videos on how to froth.

My Breville Express steamer screeches incredibly loud too, if you put it too deep in the milk. Got to be right at the surface.

  • Try wiggling the head side to side as it grinds, to help settle the grinds.

Regarding steamer, they all do this if your wand is too low in the milk.

This machine is awesome, especially for the price. I actually prefer it to the fancy Breville ones we have at work. It's simple and just works.

  • Decent machine. Mine lasted about 4.5-5 years before it had a catastrophic leak.

The onboard grinder seemed better than my friend's Breville Barista Express (using same beans, i get less clumping).

Though, I moved to 2 separate machines (grinder + espresso machines) after my Sunbeam died and haven't looked back.

    • Mine had the catastrophic leak after 6 months - was a good intro machine. Moved onto the Barista Express. If that ever dies, I'll move onto the smart grinder and separate espresso machine.

    • The leak is the plastic 4 way valve (it's rubbish).

Do a search on ebay, and you will see a metal 4 way valve.

Replace this, and its good to go.

Don't forget to use non-bovaer milk

Pretty expensive still, considering the Breville Express was selling for $498 during Black Friday. Much better machine.

But today is not black friday though. But for a $100 more, the Breville Express still a better choice.

      • Agree.

A good coffee machine should hopefully last years and years to come so spending more to have a decent machine is worth it imo.

  • I had this for 6 months in the UK while living there this last year - bought second hand, only used freshly roasted beans, made many decent lattes every day. Steam wand was absolutely fine, grinder was great. Back in Aus I have a much more expensive Italian machine which I missed while away, but loved how quickly this one heated up in the morning and its small footprint on the worktop.

Gave the machine to my sister when I left the UK… she’s a trained barista and has been producing absolutely perfect microfoam and crema on it.

Overall, would recommend to anyone who knows vaguely what they’re doing, but who doesn’t actively want the faff of a semi-commercial machine and grinder especially at this price.
