I have no idea why you would need 6 of these in a domestic situation.

    • If you want make bad stuff bad happen at work. Gives you a few attempts.

      • This is the only reason to buy a pack of 6…

    One for each hand! (…..?)

  • what to do with 6

    No deal, I need 7

  • On the off chance that you actually need a shifting spanner, get a lockable one like the Amazon Basics.

The main problem of any Adjustable Wrenches is that their moving jaw always has some play, to the extent of up to 1mm for the cheap ones, and a bit less for the more expensive ones. No matter how accurate the gauge is, it can never be accurate, and always subject to slipping if you give more tolerance, or just difficult to insert if you make it too tight. A fixed spanner is much easier to use. So in my view, adjustable wrenches is only useful for the odd occasion jobs that you don't have the right sized spanner at hand, and only do it once or twice.

Right tool for the job vs one size fits all.
I only have one shifter and 8 pairs of knipex spanner pliers.
The pliers don't replace the shifter and so on.
Sockets, ratcheting podgers, fixed open/ ring/ offset/ straight/ stubby/ long, ratcheting ring spanners, and combination ratchets.

There's always a best tool for the job and sometimes it's a shifter

True but adjustables are handy when your tools are metric as that is what you deal with 99 percent of the time but just occasionally you run into "Freedom Units (Imperial) :) ", SAE, Whitworth etc …

      • Absolutely.
Funny though about tolerances between different brands.
My wera sockets and spanners may still grab a particular imperial nut, but my sidchrome, bahco, whia ones can't.
I'm lucky enough to not need the correct size imperial etc because I'll only come across them when I'm removing old equipment from service so I'm not worried about damaging the fastener or removing/marring protective coatings.
I hate going back to get tools after starting a task but sometimes it can't be helped otherwise I'm carting around over 50kg of tools.
