I was looking for replacement lenses for my peeling Oakley lenses and noticed they have a $50 off on their sunnies.
I tried checking out one online and delivery seems free and you can also do pick up from their shop.
Wanted to pay gift card but they do not accept GC payments online.

Sunglasshut has a similar promotion but they are $75 off.

Oakley are still expensive but I like their lenses before they started peeling off.

Happy to check out if someone has a better promo than this.

An option for replacing lenses the sunglass fix. I got replacement lenses my arnette sunnies and they have been good.

    • I'll also say that the Sunglass Fix lenses are pretty bloody good. I replaced a set in my Oakley frames and they're indistinguishable in quality of lens, at least to my eyes, but they're much tougher if you pay for the expensive ones.

      • I bought a regular set of replacement lens for my Oakley Holbrook sunnies from them last year and they scratched easily. Which tougher lens do you reccommend?

        • My original Holbrook prizm polarised lenses are becoming almost impossible to use now after about a year due to scratches etc - keen to share thoughts on the best approach

          • @isthisreallife22: Second that!

          • @isthisreallife22: I bought the most expensive replacement lenses from sunglass fix for my Holbrooks, they were $70. That was 18 months ago, still in good condition. They are as good or better than the originals. They don't seem to scratch as bad.

The Holbrooks were a gift, don't think I could bring myself to pay that much though I do like the simple design and the I've gotten 6 years or so out of the frame so far.

        • Sorry for the later reply - As Hardlyworkin said, the most expensive ones ($70+Shipping) that are hardcoated are extremely resilient. I grabbed them about 12 months ago and have dropped my sunnies with no damage to the lenses.
          10/10 would/will buy again.

    • Have been using sunglass fix for ages. Their design range is pretty broad too, had a pair of Arnette Rage and RageXL extended life for years and years until I eventually lost them. Have gotten a 12 years out of a pair of Oakley Wiretaps. Now hopefully they will extend my Carbon Blades and Wiretap 2.0's for a long time to come.
I find their lenses to be better in some cases really (depending on what you choose).

Rip off these days, I paid $108 for Sutro Origins at half price in 2020.

The coating on a few earlier pairs I had goes shitty after a while, can't really recommend.

  • Where and how do you apply this $50 off?

    • $50 off is only for their custom range. Click on the banner at the top with the countdown timer.

Many other models have varying discounts but it's not $50 off site-wide.

  • I've used revant optics for replacement lenses for seval different sunnies over the years and been very happy with the result. https://www.revantoptics.com

    • I've found Revant to be good also. Got some holbrook lenses a while back and no problems.

just a reminder for transparency that the company that owns Oakley also owns Sunglass Hut (and OPSM and Ray-Ban and Arnette and Transitions etc etc)

  • 11% back with Shopback showing on my screen

  • Out of interest… I ordered a pair of Oakley Stylus sunnies via Bupa Optical.

Wanted blue mirror, so had to be ordered in from Singapore.

Came with their prescription lenses and the original Oakley lenses.

However, the original lense does not have "Prizm" etched at the bottom.

I thought all lenses were either Prizm or Polarized these days?

Have they put in fake lenses?

    • Must have set you back some cash.. those Oakley prescription lenses are expensive.

      • Did the frames Dec 31. Lenses Jan 1. $600.
Out of pocket after private health $5

        • What insurance provides that much benefit?

        • does your health insurance company allow you to split up the purchase that way (frame only one year, lenses the next, but they make up into the one pair of glasses)?

          • @shmahoo: I think I've done it before. Nothing to do with the health insurance company.
It may work out with the Optical store if you ask them - ie. purchasing end of December and pick up start of Jan (or midyear if that's when your benefits reset).

            • @G-rig: different health funds have different rules on this (eg it is forbidden by BUPA and Medibank Private, but accepted by NIB)

              • +1

@shmahoo: Maybe ask the shop. They can split the purchases. Ive bought Oakley frame only from eBay UK before works out cheaper sometimes (and just use private health for the lenses; not like $220-300 goes that far anyway).

        • Which Health Insurance is this? I cannot find any that does more than 50%

and I am with Defence Health

          • @wid: I put a transaction through for an AHM customer today and he got back 100% of his purchase price up to $300

            • @shmahoo: That is only about 75% of the prescription lenses alone…

It's about $650 to get prescription Oakley's… And that's when the frames are on sale.

Its almost tom ford prices now. Wow

    • Outrageous prices now and a lot of the Prizm road ones i had developed that problem on the lenses flaking.

  • If only their prescription lenses were not such a rip off.
