Just started my first office job and looking for a sweater that I can wear to the office and look semi professional. I've noticed that the quarter zips are what other people in the office opt for. Brands such as Tommy Hilfiger or Polo are all around $200 but I've read online that they're not worth that much and it's just the branding. What brands are the go to amongst the community here?
Try Myer. Youve got Reserve, Rodd and Gunn, Sportscraft etc. Really comes down to your age, size, fit and style

I was going to suggest Country Road but it looks like they have ruined theirs with an oversized logo.
I had a Nautica brand merino one that lasted almost 10years (think I got it from one of the Myer sales).
Most of the men's clothing brands will have them in either cotton or merino but quality will vary, might be best to check them out in store
Uniqlo is so expensive now and the quality is not what it used to be. Bought a supima cotton t-shirt for $19.90 yesterday and it's nothing like my old ones. Very thin and has a sheen to it. Nowhere near as soft or comfortable. I have quite a few merino half zip sweater from those Hallenstein deals back in the day, I think they were $20-$30 each. Still looking good.
Yeah I've had bad experiences with Uniqlo with shorts/pants having the material fail after less than a year. I'll probably try another brand
I personally like rodd and Gunn Alton ave sweater for a quarter zip option. I would recommend sizing down 1 size as it runs big especially on the sleeves.
Material is great though and relatively affordable with good brand recognition.
You could try the knitted sweater vest.

Buy the wool and get nanna to knit a Jenny Kee style pullover
