Pretty much, yes. 2 movies on my justwatch list are on there, so worth the $3 for me. Thanks OP.
What are the 2 movies?
Very artistic. You don’t get such classics in non arthouse streaming services.
@PainToad: Spoiler: Toast lands on its side rather than butter side down thereby proving the eternal whimsy of existence
Nice one OP ..thanks
I take advantage of this offer every year, and love it. The streamer isn't for everyone, nor does it try to be, but if you like arthouse fare and short films, you will easily find $3 worth of value.
Just note, that if you see something you like, you should watch it quickly. The service has similarities to a cinema, where many things will only be up for a couple of weeks/months, but there are new notable films each week.
Is there a list showing expiry dates?
Does Mubi allow downloading so movies can be watched offline?
I’ve just added the app and it has a download section with “you have no downloaded to films to watch” so that’s a big yes
Haven't been subscribed to mubi since this deal came up about two years ago, but found a more interesting selection of films than I've seen in a while
The Protagonists and I Am Love from Luca Guadagnino (Call Me By Your Name, Challengers, Bones and All)
Alps from Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things, The Favourite, The Lobster)
Tokyo Sonata from Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Cure, Pulse)
A couple documentaries from Wim Wenders (Paris, Texas, Perfect Days)
Mishima from Paul Schrader (writer of Taxi Driver)
The lowly jabs at "arthouse" films as if they're somehow "bad" will persist, but if you're a fan of cinema and art as a whole, you'll likely find some things of interest here
Damn! I hate art.
Sorry for your loss
Thank you for your service
great recommendations!
Perfect Days is amazing!
Just to be clear, Perfect Days (despite being published by Mubi elsewhere in the world) is not on Mubi Australia. Instead there is Tokyo-ga (the documentary) and one I mistook for a documentary by Wenders called Alice in the Cities
Mubi and Criterion Streaming IMO are the only two streaming services worth subscribing to and for $3 is an absolute no-brainer
In case of Mubi, bear in mind that their catalog varies by quite a bit depending on which region you are in. What it means is that if you use a VPN service and switch to US, UK or Italy, the list of titles will be vastly superior to what's available in Australia.
Mubi also has a bi-annual magazine subscription for $50 which makes the whole experience even more special.
If anyone is wondering, you can cancel straight away and retain the membership period.
I canceled and it gave me another month free and canceled. So 4 months for $3, nice
I found out that you should select the first option when cancelling so they'd give you another 30 day for free. So yeah did the same and got 4 months. Not bad for $3 :)
Damn, they didn't give me the extra month :(
This is great, thank you
Usual reminder, you can subscribe in the app with google credits if ya got em
not many movies on the sub I’m keen to watch. but that could be because some overlap with sbs having the same movies.
(The Secret in their eyes was one)
in about 12+ months and only got one on my list atm “Night moves” with Jesse Eisenberg. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2043933/
still not enough to start the 1 week free trial.
What's the best movie on there?
I thought Tarkovsky's The Sacrifice was pretty amazing!
Newly added movie, Matt and Mara, I thought was really good.
Is this an arthouse streaming service?
