AmEx - Upgrade to Newer/Better Offer?

Hey everyone,

Last month, I was approved for the Amex Velocity Business Card, which at the time had an offer of 120k Velocity points for a $3k spend in 2 months.

I’ve noticed they’re now offering 170k Velocity points and 12 months of Velocity Gold membership with a $6k spend in 2 months.

I contacted Amex to see if I could get upgraded to the new offer, but I was told that I would need to reapply to take advantage of it, with no guarantee of approval.

Has anyone had any success negotiating a better sign-up offer with Amex after already being approved? If so, how did you go about it?

    The only other way is to get someone else in the family (Spouse/Partner) to open up a new card account and at least by this way your household will get additional 170k velocity points.

    A friend of mine got an explorer card with 50k sign up bonus only to see 100k offered to others after receiving the card. He contacted amex and as a goodwill they gave him 20-25k.

      Was it as soon as he received the card? The phone rep told me they can only do it if it’s within 7 days from approval. No idea if that’s true tho

    Has anyone had any success negotiating a better sign-up offer with Amex

    I just use the free AMEX with no fees, 55 days interest free and still get reward points and discount offers.
