Golf Clubs

I consider myself a reasonably handy shopper and I already have a couple of expensive hobbies requiring pricy kit best bought overseas. I also know though that there will be a community of folks all over this who will already know the right places to shop.

I am interested in getting back into Golf after a 30 year hiatus. My sad old clubs that I received from my 18th Birthday a long time ago dont really cut it anymore. I am interested in the best place to look for new Golf kit. I am very familiar with shoppning overseas and have already bought everything from Snowboards to Omega watches mail order from the US. I have a couple of mail forwarding addresses in the US and the UK.

In general, does anybody have any good recommendations for Golf online shops. I have been looking at rockbottomgolf, already bought some clothes from them (via my mail forwarder in the US). Any better recommendations/tips would be appreciated.

  • Hi First post = I have purchased 2 sets of near new -used clubs from 3balls golf in the us,
Excellent in all respects - quality- condition descriptions etc
EBAY site - post quickly via Fedex at about $65 AUD for a set
My neighbour has done also with no issues.

  • I'm not sure what you're looking to spend but http://www.golfclearanceoutlet.com.au/ They seem quite reasonably priced. They also list some sets on eBay that you can pick up even cheaper. http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/golf-clearance-outlet-aust/m.html…

However i don't think they ever list the Taylor Made sets on eBay if you're after higher end stuff. I bought my dad a cheap set of Tommy Armour Evo's for $200 posted off eBay. It's listed at $449.00 on their website.

    • Thanks for that, did a load of online browsing and, to be honest, the postage from the US killed the deal many times. I ended up going to the golfclearanceoutlet and picked up some RBZ Irons fo $499. This was close to the best price I could find from the US pre postage. I saw a couple of other good deals and maybe could have gotten a similar deal including postage for a diferent set of clubs, but when the price is comparable, convenience for things like warranty etc probably goes in favour of the local shop so I bought from the outlet.

      • Glad to help. Happy golfing.

  • Great advice guys, thanks heaps. I am probably looking to get away under $1K for the lot (bag, trolley, irons, hybrids, drivers). If I can would prefer anything that can help my game. I know the best advice is probably to get a pro to evaluate my swing and sell me something from his pro shop etc etc but that will obviously be very expensive. From the advice I have seen on the net, several companies make very forgiving club sets. In terms of irons I was thinking either Ping G20 or Adams Idea A12OS although my interest in these just comes from internet research. Both Rockbottomgolf and 3balls recommended by paulf above seem to have some of these models. In terms of drivers….no idea yet but I would need something extremely forgiving to help with a vicious slice! 3balls seem to have similar pricing but much cheaper shipping than rockbottom.
