  • Nice find - I've been waiting a few months for a decent deal to buy $3,700 of gift cards for my friend who just paid the minimum amount to reserve the whole month of airbnbs around Europe and owes that amount.

  • Damn just bought 3k @5%. This offer expires at midnight. I bought another 2k worth but seems like only standard has tracked so far. Fingers crossed.

Who is using Airbnb in 2025?

    • It works better for me as I get accommodation covered to work interstate by work so I get a bigger place instead of a hotel room. Currently I have a renovated 1972 house with gym, suana and a courtyard with a huge tree in the middle to sit on pleasant summer evenings and not wait for 10 minutes to catch a lift and go to multi-storey hotel carpark every morning. And airbnb hosts stock some basic pantry items for use too. Only risk is if something does break and the host is not a decent one, they try to charge you even though it might not be your fault. I spent a week in one where the dishwasher start button wouldn't work. I asked the host and she accused me of "smashing it" as if i used a hammer on it. It went to airbnb and to my surprise, although the electrician had changed the inner power board, airbnb asked me to pay $450 for the repair. Thats the risk you unfortunately carry especially if travelling with family as hotels are not practical for more than one person.

      • I get you, sounds like the place you are staying at is a dream and works for you.

Like you mentioned, there are so many examples and horror stories of bad Bnbs. I've heard of places that leave pages of 'instructions' for staying there and have seen a few examples of where guests are expected to wash sheets/empty bins before they check out… I don't mind tidying up after myself but for the price that most Bnbs charge (including what is often a hefty cleaning fee), it's not worth it. Some even charge a fee if you use the washing machines or AC.

        • Yes i have to empty bins and put the towels in the washing machine and load the dishwasher. I also do a bit of tidying up and vacuuming which you wouldn't have to do in a hotel but thats the price of more space.

    • Unfortunately, people who cannot get a rental/cannot afford to buy.
