I believe it is the rectangular nature of this watch that makes it long lasting.

And the waterproofyness is what makes it resistant to water.

    • Good for the feng shui

    • Wrong ! It's the brand name .

    Which LLM wrote this description?

    • +4

It's directly copy pasted from the page. Given the age of the product it goes to show how good(?) LLMs have become from copying market speak.

  • That rectangular shape though

  • Case and band is resin.

“ It can withstand water and even splashes of water with ease and hence is a long-lasting product. This enables you to carry your watch to the swimming pool or beach without any hesitation.”

Don’t wear it swimming, it will be ruined and hence you will be sad.

    • done a few laps with it on accidentally, its fine

    • Wore mine a dozen or more times to the beach this summer. No issues yet.

For 20 you could test it out or google it.

I have an F-91W with a cracked screen in the shower. Gets hit with water and steam multiple times a day, still keeps great time. Still on the original battery from 15 years ago too.

    • Wore mine snorkeling once l, just forgot I was wearing it, zero issues
If anything their waterproofness is way. Undersold

    Old school.

    • The best old skool watch

The F-91W is obviously a legend - but for just a little more you can get the W59-1 same vibe but with 50m water resistance. One of my kids wore one of these permanently for 6 months solid - baths - swimming lessons - sport - and it never missed a beat.

Quick word of caution, these are coming from Amazon and can be counterfeit. Amazon doesn't care all that much and they don't check, at this price I wouldn't be surprised if they are.

You might not care up to you, but if you don't care if it's a knock off you can get one for about $18 on eBay, or grab a genuine direct from Casio.

    • I’m pretty sure Amazon themselves wouldn’t source counterfeit watches. If it’s a third party seller on Amazon it’s a different story

      • Amazon returns get recycled, identical stock from different sellers gets mixed at the warehouse. Lots of reports of people buying from Amazon and getting something counterfeit

        • Free returns, just check it or send back for another one. Can always order from tictacarea.

    • I bought one from Amazon and it was fake. They refunded me over chat… don’t think they really care that it’s fake

      • Buy from sold and shipped by Amazon.
Pretty easy ways to check, what was the giveaway in the end?

        • I had a few non-definitive signs like the barcode was a print instead of a sticker. But I pulled it apart and the battery was a fake chinese.

          • @muckingfuppet: That's good, did you get a replacement?

            Few ways I check:
            - Should say made in China or Thailand
            - Check the screws
            - lcd test
            - They did have a small 'U' printed under resist which was hard to fake (heard they don't do this anymore though)
            - battery is a giveaway like you say

            • @G-rig: Amazon just refunded it and let me keep the fake.

The fake works great still! Just the buckle pinches a little. Unsure if a genuine would as well.

    • It's a good idea to be wary of fake F-91Ws - I bought a fake one on ebay a few years ago and only realised it was fake after a few months when I realised it wasn't keeping time very well. Even then, I had to do some research and look real close to determine it was a fake.

That said, I think this listing is pretty trustworthy. Definitely would trust Amazon over ebay. Could be wrong though.

    • Good to way to check is to hold the right bottom button down - if it reads CASIo on the watchface after 5~ seconds, it's real.

      • This is known to be faked now.

A few ways to find out now are if the barcode is a sticker or printed (sticker is genuine)

And opening it to see if the battery is a fake chinese or a genuine panasonic.

        • Interesting, not sure if I still have the box but it might be in my car somewhere. Pretty sure I remember a sticker on mine.

Might open it tonight if I'm feeling inquisitive.

I’m wearing mine right now. It looks good on me

Pinnacle of watch design and build. Except light.

    • Okay it's a cult classic, but hardly the pinnacle of anything.
