Bulova Mini Lunar Pilot 96K115 'Blood Moon' $599 Delivered @ Starbuy

80

This is one sexy watch. We last saw it in November at the same price, and it's back on sale again now. I've got the black dial version and only paid slightly less, and it's a very good watch. Yes, 43.5mm diameter and 50mm L2L sounds large but it doesn't wear very big. I've got a 7 1/4" wrist and it's not imposing at all - if anything, I'd say it's on the heavy side as it's quite a solid piece. This is also one of the special editions that come with two straps: S/S bracelet and leather band, which can be swapped easily with the quick-release spring bars. I think they use an ostrich leather or something similar as the one that came with mine is very soft and supple.

Full specs:

    Good deal for Joseph

I wish it's the black dial. I am currently obsessed with that speedtimer look hehehe

    • Did you mean Omega Speedmaster (the other moon watch) or Seiko Speedtimer?

If the former, there's the Pagani Design homage, PD-1701 in black.
They're around $100 delivered on Ali.
They suit smaller wrists better too.

Sorry, I was referring to the omega hehehe. I was even considering the moonswatch for a few days - crazy! But I have since dismissed it and decided that the mini pilot would be the one to get.

I got my alternative to the seiko speedtimer panda already in my Timex Q Chronograph Panda, so the itch has been scratched in that department ;p.

        Pd1701 classic ‘speedy’ goes hard

The mission to alaska one is cool too

        • +2

Damn, those PDs are looking handsome

        • Sorry, I was referring to the omega

No worries mate, I was still confused on these until recently. I muffed not only those, but also the Daytona/Monaco. Both are race venues but I forgot who did what. I searched for TAG Daytona when I wanted the square TAG Monaco.

This was because Simon on The Cook & the Chef was wearing what turned out to be the Monaco. I showed someone a frame to out him as a watch fancier. Darn! Okay, so Rolex does the Daytona (and Pagani do nice versions of that too).
What really did my head in was discovering TAG Heuer also did a Daytona

I've said at least three times that my collection's complete…but not until a PD-1701 in black/black.

          Timex Q Chronograph Panda

Panda diplomacy was in the news earlier this week.
The panda I adopted was a Pagani 1782. I used to think it was similar to the Bulova Lunar, but came around to another keen-eyed commenter — the Tissot Heritage 1973, I can see more of that in it.

I was set on a gold super Seville as my next piece… now not so sure. Looks great.

    • +2

I think it would look good on you!

      Here's a thought…why not both and double-wrist 'em? :-D

      • Credit card said no

        • +1

Boo! I've got one like that, too. Dumb credit cards.

You should get the 50th anniversary speedy with Buzz Aldrin’s ass on the dial

Remember, second comes right after first!

But really, said watch has his ass on the dial!

this would look good on me

    • I can imagine it will. Now make that a reality lol.

51mm lug to lug is quite big.

    • Wear it with confidence

    • No that can't be right, it says "mini" right there!

I also have the black dial version and would just like to add the pictures don’t do the dial justice.

In person you get to see the depth and textures of the dial which adds to overall appeal.

I also feel the shape of your wrist, along with your wrist circumference, is an important factor in how the watch, and for that matter any watch, wears.

I have 6.5 inch wrists which are quite flat and with the 43.5mm version the lugs still do not extend past my wrist and it wears quite nicely, despite the 51mm lug to lug width.

I found there were no retailers in Melbourne to go and try the watch on but al least with Starbuy you have 45 day return period.

    • Thank you for sharing your experience with the watch. This makes me even more wanting that black dial version.

      • +1

It would definitely look good on you.

        • I can totally see that lol. I am obsessed with that omega speedy look.

      • +1

        No problem.

Also, keep in mind that the clasp on the bracelet does not have any micro adjustment for getting that perfect fit or making quick adjustments if your wrist swells with changes in weather.

Wearing it on a strap overcomes this issue and reduces overall weight.

    • Could you share any pics of the watch on your wrist? I've been tempted to buy the smaller sized dial before but worried it would be too big on my 6.25" wrist. Cheers

      • +2

Keep in mind bracelet can be sized down to maybe just a bit smaller than 6.5 inch wrist, so at 6.25 inches it may be too loose.
You can always use supplied leather strap or buy any other 20mm strap that you like.

        • Thanks mate. I didn't know that about the bracelet sizing - thanks for the tip. Watch looks very tidy on your wrist!
