Suggestions for Posting Boxes Interstate

Hi all, a friend is looking to move about 300kg (30kg boxes x 10) interstate. Bought boxes from Bunnings, square ones 53cm x 53cm x 53cm.

Would anyone have recommendations? Reviewed quotes from Aus Post, Truck It, Team Global, and Transdirect.

Are there any other OzBargainers use? Any referral links appreciated

Thanks!

Are they boogie board bags or headphones?

  • Sendle? https://try.sendle.com/en-au/pricing

However, the result may depend on from where to where.

    • thanks!

    • Sendle only do up to 25kg and 100L (both of which this is larger than).

Hire a trailer from a gas station

If OP actually told us information like from where the boxes are going to, we might have been able to solve this puzzle for him.

    • What's a "….gas station…'??

It's where Australians go to inhale Nitrous Oxide, and for that brief moment as they inhale, they believe they own a Ford 350 with Stars and Stripes flags flapping right and left at back while wearing their baseball cap backwards.

  • I have used these guys from google, https://www.transdirect.com.au/, and, and no issues.

    • Don't know if it helps, when I used to use Aramex for Transdirext their max size for ONE unit is 25kg of whichever the higher between dead or volume weight. Volume weight is height x width x length in cm divided by 4000. For 30kg item they may not accept thus why may not appear. Try to make the box to be 25kg.

      • when I used to use Aramex

        I see you like(d) punishment.

Be careful with the Bunnings boxes as some are crap. Make sure they are the good ones and if not then they WILL fall apart on the journey.

  • what are the postcodes, and average approx weight of the boxes?

    • 7320 to 3750

      • Road trip seems doable - hire van locally, then drive. 13 hours trip by Google with 11+ hours on ferry.

  • Airtasker

    • thanks have you done it interstate?

        Yes. On our honeymoon.

  • Ouch - E-Go quote $1,600.
Maybe a job for air tasker?

    • Its about grand in transdirect, its not that expensive since items has to go on ferry too.

      • About $1060 with TNT.

  • There maybe some bulk companies you can use, that are not major. Maybe there is an independant that can put it on a pallet?

We are rorted so much in Aus, with freight.

Why is it we can get a $4 item shipped to Australia from China for Nothing, yet a small business pays $8+ to ship the same thing???

    • So true

Why is it we can get a $4 item shipped to Australia from China for Nothing, yet a small business pays $8+ to ship the same thing?

This is due to China still considered as developing countries and get postal subsidies. Something Trump was about to fight for last time. Once that happen, bye bye AliExpress etc.

      • Postal charges in the USA are expensive. I suspect Trump will do squat about this issue. If he was going to he would have.

        • He was then got kicked out, once the trade war kicked in he could start again.

For cheaper results consider putting these on a pallet and use a suitable transport company rather than send individual boxes.

    • This. Pallets are easier to ship.

      • Free pallets from my local Bunnings.

      • Not sure if OP going save much, usually transport companies pick up from residential addresses then put them in pallets between depos. If you already got it in a pallet, then truck need to attend with a forklift, thats be extra cost for them.

        • Or deliver the boxes to the depot for packing onto a pallet?

          • @The Hawk: Probably, cutting the cost of the picking up, is the affect worth for the savings? No idea.

Op how much is it going to cost you to hire a van and do it yourself?

        • Ive seen plenty of courier trucks that have a pallet truck and a tailgate lift onboard.

  • I have use Seven Seas Worldwide for domestic and international moves and have always been very happy with their service and reasonable pricing.

  • You may be able to organise a backload. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=backload&atb=v397-1&ia=web
