Introducing the Citizen Zenshin Watch AW0130-85M, a timepiece that combines classic proportions with innovative technology and a distinctly modern style. The watch features a 39mm silver-tone Super Titanium™ case, which is five times harder and 40% lighter than stainless steel, making it scratch- and rust-resistant.

The Zenshin Turquoise dial AW0130-85M Super Titanium watch with Duratect TIC coating weighs approximately 95gm and features a power reserve of approximately 8 months once fully charged.

The finely brushed and polished finish of the AW0130-85M enhances its sleek look, while the integrated matching bracelet ensures a secure and comfortable fit on the wrist. The dial boasts a textured turquiose colour, complemented by a matching outer minute ring and silver-tone details, along with luminous hands and markers for easy readability. A combined day-date window at the 3 o’clock position adds practicality while giving a nod to the retro-inspired design.

Powered by Citizen’s Eco-Drive technology, the Zenshin AW0130-85M watch is sustainably powered by any light source and never requires a battery. Its impressive water resistance of up to 100 meters adds further versatility to this sporty yet refined timepiece. The AW0130-85M features a solar-powered in-house quartz movement, scratch-resistant sapphire glass, and a durable screwed case back. This classic three-hand model is crafted from Super Titanium™, making it highly resistant to wear and tear.

Since 1970, Citizen has been a pioneer in using titanium, a rare material with exceptional properties. Through Citizen’s proprietary Duratect coating technology, Super Titanium™ is created to offer five times the strength of stainless steel. Due to its durability, Super Titanium™ is also used in Japan’s aerospace industry, ensuring the highest level of quality and innovation in every watch. The Citizen Zenshin AW0130-85M exemplifies the brand’s commitment to combining cutting-edge materials with stylish, functional design.

What we love: Apart from the integrated bracelet to the Sapphire crystal glass and the ever reliable J800 Eco-Drive movement, the Zenshin series watches are a real knockout in terms of looks. This series will form a part of any watch collectors arsenal.

      Pretty… underwhelming for the price.

Kinda true. Starbuy trying to clear its Citizen stock

        • I thought this is a new series, just received by Starbuy.

          • @olderman: That's what the email suggested, and they were only able to get part of their order due to international demand.
But assured us they'd be getting more in the future.

If anything, they've been pushing Bulova models more aggressively in recent months. Also owned by Citizen, but then again so is Frederique Constant.

    • Pretty pretty pretty good
      .
Still prefer my small seconds though, not a fan of the grainy dial. Still good for those still riding the tiffany train. Probably not super lightweight.

      • I had to check the spec, and sure enough the bracelet is also titanium. Around 100g is getting on.
        For reference, a 40mm steel/steel mechaquartz of mine is 98g (7" wrist).

        • Yeah they never quite got there with these exclusive models.

    It's finally here, the zenshin.

Super Titanium is deceptive. It covers several tiers of hardening coating and for their English language press releases they don't distinguish which tier of materials each falls into. The entry level coating has been found to be more easily scratched than 316L stainless steel on numerous Citizen watches on Ben's Watch Club. At best it's a meme technology, at worst it's advertising fraud.

    • Yep theses one scratch really easily.

    Eco-drive FTW.
    Liking my trifecta too.
    (Eco, Ti, Sapphire)

    • I take it one step further with assisted time keeping (radio, Bluetooth, GPS). I've been rocking a jdm Casio Oceanus Manta for the last 6 months almost everyday.

  • Zenshin, Zentai, Zenra! :3

  • Any serious suggestions for a 60-year-old man? budget around 1k

New 38mm Murph is a beaut!

        • Thanks guys!

        • Wont be getting that for $1k

@Circly: I got one, you can get them for $1200 (20% off).
I saw one on ebay for $1100 (so put in a 28d price protection claim 👌)

Hit up Wamada for a deal anyway, they have a great selection.

Also suggest Seiko Alpinist, used Willard or 62MAS, Tissot Seastar.. too many to list depends on style first.

            • @G-rig: Oh the seastar is beautiful

              • +1

@kolorijo: Yeah plenty of different variants too. There is more to Tissot than the PRX, that horse is getting flogged something bad.. haha.
I like divers the most for legibility!

                • @G-rig: Definitely, I ended up getting the black dial gentlemen instead of the prx. It's elegant and timeless.

                  • @kolorijo: Nice work! The PRX is well overdone as well as that integrated style.

            • @G-rig: Ah yes was thinking of the bracelet model though for some reason :( that one is a bit more.

    • I am leaning towards the salmon 😋

  • "'Five times harder than stainless steel'? Sounds like someone's been reading too much comic book science! Apparently, in this alternate universe, extreme hardness somehow repels rust. Maybe it's like a force field, deflecting those pesky oxygen molecules! 😂"

    • Yeah let's body-shame Ti for its physical properties.
Cheap hussy has no place on the periodic table, never mind aerospace!

      • Don't get me wrong - Ti is lighter than steel and harder than Alu, but it is only 5 times harder than stainless steel in an alternative universe.
Grade 5 titanium alloy ((Ti-6Al-4V)): This alloy has a Brinell hardness of around 334 HB and a Vickers hardness of around 349 HV. It's often used in aerospace, automotive, and marine applications.
304 stainless steel: Has a maximum Brinell hardness of 215, and a Rockwell B hardness of 82
And if material hardness makes in rust resistant than than HSS drills apparently never rust.

        • Their hardness claim doesn't matter to me (I don't shoot my watches). I'm yet to see rust on titanium though, so that's something to look forward to?

And if material hardness makes in rust resistant than than HSS drills apparently never rust.

          Want to try that again?

          • @Speckled Jim: which is five times harder and 40% lighter than stainless steel, making it scratch- and rust-resistant.

Does hardness make it rust resistant?

            • @Musiclover: I see you're quoting the deal text, which differs from the following:

The ideal material for a timepiece, Super Titanium™ is lightweight, gentle on the skin and both scratch- and rust-resistant.‌
              https://www.citizenwatch.com/us/en/technology-super-titanium…

So one is not facilitating the other. They are unique qualities.

As it's not possible for the average consumer to verify the hardness claim, and there's bugger-all consumer protections concerning truth in advertising, good luck with that one.

I always give overseas-based companies a degree of latitude when it comes to PR — assume they're doubling whatever metric they offer.

    • Just get a resin G-Shock and problem solved :).

  • is it worth it, ti material could be soft
