Some people are a little critical about some of the changes/additions to Sigma. But it's pretty much of an Apples & Oranges situation.
In that I like oranges but would rather not have an apple? Or that they both make a decent juice?
People claim apples and oranges on 1 because many conflate more/different content with a superior experience. Black is the definitive experience with better encounter design and balance and superior B movie plot flow without Rachel chapters bogging it down. Only the swimming segment and military base have a strong argument for being better in sigma.
Nobody has ever claimed Sigma 2 is superior without being laughed out of the room.
This new one is clearly built off the back of sigma with lower enemy density and changed enemy behaviours. I have just finished my yearly play of NGB and NG2 on my dedicated Ninja Gaiden Series X and you should note how the stinkers left NG2 360 at a full $50 digital box price to deter people from playing the better game. For my money the original NG2 looks better, runs better and has more enjoyable encounter composition than this choppy UE5 attempt at it.
That said even the worst of these you're discussing aren't bad at all.
Ninja Gaiden Black is better than Ninja Gaiden, sigma is not as good as previous two.
I do have original Xbox and NG disk and NGB disk and Xbox360 and NG 2

So Ninja Gaiden Sigma is the better version of this. But Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is the shit version of NG2. and the new one is Ninja Gaiden 2 Black which is better than Sigma 2 but Sigma 2 is worse than 2 Black, but Sigma 1 beats Black 1
