RFURBS15RFURBS17

Sony has applied some automated discounts to some of their refurbished models of Tv's throughout some of their range on the Ebay page.
Upon checking this model had a $550 discount applied to the base price bringing it down to $1499 + postage. which can stack with the refurbished item discount code RFURBS15 which will bring the total down to $1323.15. Postage is $49.

Before someone asks about Tcl no the picture in the Tcl c855 is better but the hardware running the Sony is much better and faster, also if you can show me a 75" c855 at this price we would be very interested.

Not sure how much stock is left but it says more than 10 available. I have already secured my orders perfect for the kids media rooms.

Cannot be delivered to TAS nor NT.

Read my mind on the 75C855 :D

  • XR85X90L also an option for AU $1,798.00 incl del

    • oos? can't find it

      • yeah looks like it.

  • Not able to apply any of the discount codes? RFURBS15 / RFURBS17 ?? Any hints?

  • +5

Don't do it, Sony sent me a busted panel and now won't replace it. Not worth it.

    • +4

      Your story is very unlikely

      • +5

What's the value in lying ?

        • +5

If they aren't taking responsibility, what is their proof that you damaged the TV? Did you report it in an unreasonable timeframe? This is why video unboxing is imperative, albeit it's not someone everyone thinks about when opening a product.

          • @Maths Debater: Do they film delivering the item and ensuring it remains undamaged?

            • -2

@effraye: If the panel was smashed, how did it end up in the box? I used to work for Hisense and no one is packing a TV with a smashed panel. And if it occured during transport, I'm pretty sure you would've noticed a hole in the box and rejected delivery, right?

              • +4

@Maths Debater: So a panel within a box can't break unless there is a hole on the box? that hasn't been my experience, unfortuneately.

Why are you so invested? You're not the one with an 85" busted panel sitting in the garage because Sony are dishonest.

                • @effraye: I'm just trying to make sense of the situation. There can absolutely be cases of concealed damage during transport but the chances of this occuring are quite rare unless the TV was transported flat instead of upright. In any event, I'm sorry to read about your situation and hope you get a favourable outcome. I would be interested in looking at the image if you don't mind sharing it with us.

                  • +1

@Maths Debater: I'll happily share it after my victory at VCAT, which could be 6 months from now, until then i will continue sharing my experience at a far greater expense to Sony than doing the right thing.

                    • @effraye: How do you know it was Sony and not the delivery company? Do they deliver themselves? Have they just flatley refused to work with you on this? Was this through ebay or direct from a store?

                      • -1

@tomfool: through ebay and yes flat out denied any accountability.

                        • +1

@effraye: I had the same issue when I bought. Refurbished unit from them prior to COVID. Took some followups but they picked up the damaged TV and refunded the amount

                    • +1

@effraye: Very dishonourable of Sony Corporation as a Japanese company. Maybe write a snail mail letter to their Chairman in their Headquarters, Japan.

                      • @hardya: Hopefully he kamakazes himself on a sushi roll.

    • +2

How would you prove your case? I hope you had your unboxing video captured.

      • -2

Their are obligations under ACL sections 54,59 and 60 they haven't abided by.

        • +1

54(6) is on the balance of probabilities so you need to be prepared for that. Witness statements etc can help you there.

60 is meaningless because this is a claim against goods not a service.

You also want to look at 56 regarding description.

          • +1

@happydude: Thanks, will be relying on 54 for my individual scenario.

            • @effraye: Is the panel physical damaged? Or it just doesn't turn on and/or work properly?

I'm assuming it's physically damaged hence why sony aren't taking responsibility for it. If it were physically damaged then there would also be significant corresponding damage to the box.

              • +1

@Binchicken22: Exactly, except for concealed damage which is a rare occurrence. Yet for whatever reason, my comment gets negged by 3 halfwits who have never worked in the industry to understand.

              • @Binchicken22: Yeah it's physically damaged, turns on but 1 section of it looks to have been impacted.

There is no damage to the corresponding spot on the box.

            • +2

@effraye: Yes, 54 is probably 95% of ACL claims. However, 54(6) is what you'll be up against. I believe it is not uncommon for people to damage their TVs during installation. That is likely their assumption.

              (6) Goods do not fail to be of acceptable quality if:
              (a) the consumer to whom they are supplied causes them to become of unacceptable quality, or fails to take reasonable steps to prevent them from becoming of unacceptable quality; and

The tribunal will need to decided what was more likely based on the evidence presented. If Sony actually fight it, they will have data on breakages and what to look for.

    • I can confirm that Sony support has been a frustrating experience. They seem to have difficulty adhering to their own terms and conditions and may not be fully compliant with relevant laws.

    • I received one with slight bright points on the screen. Replaced with only minor issues. Had to remind them that it was under warranty and they agreed. Followed their instructions for documenting the proof. They sent out the delivery team to pick it up. Had replacement a week later.

any chance for 65 inch around 700, grabbed one 2023 on amazon deals

    • A chance? Sure, why not.

    Got one! Thanks!
I was holding out for a TCL c855 but haven't found any bargains. Missed the ones several weeks ago.

got the 85inch for $1798 delivered in Melbourne

Let us know how your experience is please.Fingers crossed for you.

  • I see postage now $55 cheaper.

  • +1

I had a very bad experience with this seller. It’s not Sony, it’s some reseller outfit. No problem believing they sent out a damaged TV. Be careful. Document EVERYTHING.

    • So Sony Australia outsource their refurb TVs to a third party that intentionally boxes up damaged TVs?

  • +1

They sold me an 85inch TV full on insects in the screen. Getting a refund and having them pick it up was not worth the saving.

    • +1

      Inside the TV?

                🐜

      • It happens. Samsung are known for it but I'm sure it would happen to other brands too, indeed as witnessed here.

      • TV became one of those ant colony boxes?

  • +2

Yes. Stuck between the panel layers

      Cockroach eating the wires?

Anyone got it delivered already can share the experience?

Mine is on the way but still got a couple days to go.

      • Received mine. Seems like it was a brand new unit. Some scuff marks and crushing on the box but tv it’s self is flawless same with box contents. Second unit is still on the way?

    • Mine arrived with a shattered screen. Waiting to see what they say.
I have video from the time it was on in the van to the time it was opened and turned on.

      • So unlucky!

  • Mine is planned for delivery today sounds like i got 50/50 chance.

  • Ordered 75" ,arrived yesterday for me, came in original box with all accessories, only thing missing were wall mount screws and documentation.
