Sony has applied some automated discounts to some of their refurbished models of Tv's throughout some of their range on the Ebay page.
Upon checking this model had a $550 discount applied to the base price bringing it down to $1499 + postage. which can stack with the refurbished item discount code RFURBS15 which will bring the total down to $1323.15. Postage is $49.

Before someone asks about Tcl no the picture in the Tcl c855 is better but the hardware running the Sony is much better and faster, also if you can show me a 75" c855 at this price we would be very interested.

Not sure how much stock is left but it says more than 10 available. I have already secured my orders perfect for the kids media rooms.

Cannot be delivered to TAS nor NT.

  • Not able to apply any of the discount codes? RFURBS15 / RFURBS17 ?? Any hints?

Don't do it, Sony sent me a busted panel and now won't replace it. Not worth it.

      Your story is very unlikely

      • +3

What's the value in lying ?

        • +3

If they aren't taking responsibility, what is their proof that you damaged the TV? Did you report it in an unreasonable timeframe? This is why video unboxing is imperative, albeit it's not someone everyone thinks about when opening a product.

          • @Maths Debater: Do they film delivering the item and ensuring it remains undamaged?

            • -3

@effraye: If the panel was smashed, how did it end up in the box? I used to work for Hisense and no one is packing a TV with a smashed panel. And if it occured during transport, I'm pretty sure you would've noticed a hole in the box and rejected delivery, right?

              • +1

@Maths Debater: So a panel within a box can't break unless there is a hole on the box? that hasn't been my experience, unfortuneately.

Why are you so invested? You're not the one with an 85" busted panel sitting in the garage because Sony are dishonest.

                • @effraye: I'm just trying to make sense of the situation. There can absolutely be cases of concealed damage during transport but the chances of this occuring are quite rare unless the TV was transported flat instead of upright. In any event, I'm sorry to read about your situation and hope you get a favourable outcome. I would be interested in looking at the image if you don't mind sharing it with us.

                  • -1

@Maths Debater: I'll happily share it after my victory at VCAT, which could be 6 months from now, until then i will continue sharing my experience at a far greater expense to Sony than doing the right thing.

                    • @effraye: How do you know it was Sony and not the delivery company? Do they deliver themselves? Have they just flatley refused to work with you on this? Was this through ebay or direct from a store?

                      • -2

@tomfool: through ebay and yes flat out denied any accountability.

                        • @effraye: I had the same issue when I bought. Refurbished unit from them prior to COVID. Took some followups but they picked up the damaged TV and refunded the amount

    • +2

How would you prove your case? I hope you had your unboxing video captured.

      • -3

Their are obligations under ACL sections 54,59 and 60 they haven't abided by.

        • +1

54(6) is on the balance of probabilities so you need to be prepared for that. Witness statements etc can help you there.

60 is meaningless because this is a claim against goods not a service.

You also want to look at 56 regarding description.

          • @happydude: Thanks, will be relying on 54 for my individual scenario.

            • @effraye: Is the panel physical damaged? Or it just doesn't turn on and/or work properly?

I'm assuming it's physically damaged hence why sony aren't taking responsibility for it. If it were physically damaged then there would also be significant corresponding damage to the box.

    • I can confirm that Sony support has been a frustrating experience. They seem to have difficulty adhering to their own terms and conditions and may not be fully compliant with relevant laws.
