    @WatchNerd is back baby!

    • Neeeeerrrrrd !

  • For that price I'd atleast expect a sapphire crystal glass.

    • +3

      🙄 Show me one for that price with those features and appeal.

    • -2

      Yeah, Seiko taking the pee again.

    • +1

      Funny, they can do sapphire for the same price on the Speedtimer SSC923P.
      https://starbuy.com.au/seiko-speedtimer-mens-chronograph-wat…

      • Just buy wisely no one is forcing anyone but very fkn predicable with the mineral crystal crowd. I've never even scratched one, but you can easily upgrade it later. The sapphire version is usually JDM, 300m and not cheap at all aka 1.5-2k.

        People can look for a better deal or second hand, they are pretty old models and I'd say discontinued.

        • Nah, if I had $500 of mad-money for watches, I'd get several Paganis.
          I dodge regret wherever I can.

  • +1

    47mm? Crikey.

    • +7

      Some like it big.

    • That's a PADI-lin'.

  • I did miss my Arnie. Do I $500 miss it?…

    • +1

      Yes

    • +3

      I think it would look good on you again.

            @G-rig:

            colorways.

            Can someone tell me when this word got invented? (and not the Google definition but your own experience)
            My whole life growing up I never heard it once, everyone always just called them 'colours'. Then some time about maybe 10 years ago I heard this word for the first time and now everyone uses it. eg A blue T shirt used to be the colour blue, now it's a blue 'colourway'.
            What is wrong with simply 'colour'? It means the exact same thing and is easier and less pretentious to say. It's almost like one of those wankwords that people think makes them sound cool (not having a go at you, just this practice in general which we all do)

            I'm interested in other people experiences of this, or is it just me?

            • +4

              @1st-Amendment: Personally if it’s a straight colour eg black I’ll just say colour.

              If it’s say a colour combo or colour combo variant eg Starbucks vs Kermit vs hulk (variants on green / black) for watches, or say ‘Chicago’ or ‘triple black’ for shoes - I’ll say colourway

              I don’t think it sounds pretentious.
              How did I pick it up? No idea but no plans to really change.

                Bit of an ironic comment considering your user name!

                Only if you have absolutely zero idea what it means. Thanks letting us know!

                • @1st-Amendment: You are trying to police people's language, but the first amendment grants the fundamental right to freedom of speech. What am I not understanding?

                    @stabfish:

                    You are trying to police people's language

                    Nope, I just asked questions because I was curious about the origins of a word… That's the irony of free speech, you are free to say what you like, but I'm also free to question it. We are both free to say what we think and are both free to be wrong and that's ok.
                    What neither of us should be doing is asking the government or other authority to shut someone else down simply for having an opinion that you don't like. That is the path to tyranny.

                    but the first amendment grants the fundamental right to freedom of speech. What am I not understanding?

                    As above, the First Amendment pertains to government control of free expression, it has zero to do with people sharing opinions or questioning of criticising others. Here's the text:

                    'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances'

                    So in this example, you are free to continue using the word 'colourway' if it makes you feel better, but I'm also free to criticise it, at no point is anyone asking the government to get involved to prohibit such activity.

                        @G-rig:

                        At least you learnt something

                        I have learned nothing from this thread. I asked where a word came from and no-one else seems to know either. I'm still none the wiser.

                        and a new word.

                        All of the words used in this thread I already knew of. What are you talking about?

                          • -1

                            @G-rig:

                            Dunno

                            That is quite obvious.

                            and just cluttering the thread with your BS

                            Now there is some irony. What a classic self own…

                                The irony rolls on… Two for the price of one, you are the gift that keeps on giving…

              @1st-Amendment: Bruh, you got mad rizz if you think you can vibe-check society and switch up its slang just by ranting on random forums. But hey, go off king, good luck with that!" 😎

            • @1st-Amendment: Interesting discussion on terminology.

              I personally have only ever used the term to apply to watches, nothing else. I’m not into sneakers (Geez, do I even own a pair? Maybe somewhere…) so I wouldn’t have picked it up there. It strikes me as something you’d use to describe an object that has multiple colours, with one dominant one (e.g. a watch has one colour for the dial and others that provide accents). I’ve never heard it apply to anything else that offers colour options such as cars, clothes, etc. You’d think the painting or decoration industries would’ve jumped on it ages ago, it’s the kind of terminology they’d probably like.

              • @Chazzozz:

                Can someone tell me when this word got invented?

                https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/colorway#word-his…

                As the word was invented long before I was born, my own first encounter is irrelevant. The word already existed, so my opinion of it is also irrelevant. I may have avoided it for 20 or 30 or 40 years by chance.

                I agree that in casual discussion, it's a single-word efficiency that keeps things rolling in a relaxed tone.
                What are the alternatives?
                None were offered by our US Constitution-enthusiast-interloper.

                See what I did there? It was clumsy. So here are some less-good alternatives to "colourway":
                Combo (ambiguous)
                Theme (ditto)
                Colour (almost adequate)
                Variant (could also apply to materials)

                I'm out of ideas, but it doesn't matter for so many reasons. I'm surprised we entertained this joker as long as we did, and in such a civil manner.

      Watch Depot has the SNJ039P for only $399, less $25 signup bonus if you use a new email address.

      • Good price but nah don't like the colour.

      • Lagoon is definitely a polarising colour scheme

        Even more so in ss…

      • That looks upside down compared to the one in this deal

      • Is showing $379 pre-discount to me - even better!

        • +1

          Can confirm the price is now different from when I looked earlier today. Nice surprise price drop!

      • Lagoon for $379 is a much better deal hey.

  • I am sad I did not pick up SNJ031P1 when it was like $369… now gone forever

      Did you forget the 1st rule of OzB - Buy 1st think later.

    • +1

      It would look good on you.

      I've got the OG colourway SNJ025P that I have worn about 3 times.

      • Interesting, it's my second most-worn watch. It's basically like a G-Shock to me - durable and convenient. Very comfy on an Uncle Seiko repro GL831 strap too.

        • +2

          Yeah it's fine but end up just wearing a G-Shock ha. It's still a tuna but slightly bigger and I find the Stock rubbery too bulky so been using a NATO.

          When you get quite a few watches you don't wear any of them much.

    • Used market plenty

  • I bought this from Starbuy last year at this price, its my daily I love it

  • +5

    Ahh Deepak - the reason my Friday night dinners are now at 7pm.

  • I'll be back?
