  • What's the regular price?

    • I think the full retail was $349 but it's been $299 for at least a few weeks now.

    • It often goes down to $299 and then when you pick your timing you get $50 bonus reward points at ST or TT but this is a great stand alone price

  • Does anyone have this? Keen to hear thoughts

I have this and a 12v black and decker, this one is way too heavy and doesn’t seen to cut any faster especially for the weight. Buy the black and decker for single hand use at reaching distances when it’s on sale for $120 for small garden projects.

    • Dewalt saws are mostly made of plastic and not built well. - They will not last long cutting tree trunks or hardwood logs. I'd only recommend for pruning.

Unless you're doing very small stuff, i'd get a higher voltage chainsaw.

My dewalt 54v has leaked oil from day 1, so not super impressed with it.

I'm a bit off the 54V stuff aswell, my dream of one battery for both small and larger tools really hasn't panned out how id hoped. Just had a 12Ah battery cark it after the 3 year mark with home use. Their garden equipment has is a common theme on the reviews of poor reliability, which has also put me off going deep into that ecosystem. I have been in parallel looking at the makita 36v (2x18) outdoor gear.

    • Most simple battery saws have a pressure feed bar oil system, with the passing chain pulling through the oil. Downside is when not in use the gravity effect keeps the oil seeping through. You have to drain the bar oil every time you put the saw away.

  • This or the 36v ozito pxc chainsaw?

Extremely happy with my Ozito. 3 pairs of batteries would fill my 7x4 trailer with redgum in an arvo.

This Dewalt looks tiny enough to be a pruning saw rather than a 'proper' fullsize chainsaw so they're not really equivalent.

I've heard lots of positive reviews on the 36v Ozito. I have the 18v (that I picked up for $60 and really mainly for the 4ah battery) and it's an absolute toy, but I have managed to do a fair bit with it.

You'd be crazy to go this dewalt tbh.

I have the Ozito too. Had a lot of trouble keeping the original chain on it. Bought an after-market one and havent looked back. Great little chainsaw.

I may be the laughing stock for all my mates with stihl and husky saws, but when i rock up to our mates place for our annual wood chop fest with "Big Red", a box of 10x 4ah batteries and a pile of cheap ebay chains, ,Im either keeping up or outpacing the petrol crew. You would be suprised with the little things here and there that waste time with petrol saws.

That being said, i cant fell a big gum with it though.

18v is probably a bit low, I'd go for a higher voltage model.

  • I've got this. Have had it for about 4 years. Use it every other week I have a big block. It was running for a week straight once after a cyclone. It's still going strong and I thought I would have killed it by now. I've taken down 20m high mahogany trees, neem trees, and one extremely large rain tree I'm slowly working on that has branch off points about 80cm wide. I went round with the chainsaw till I couldn't cut any more then had to get the hand saw for the middle. I did get some rubbish stuck in the oiler once and it leaked faster than it should for a bit but with standard maintenance like with any chainsaw it's still going great. I did find the chain jumped off the drive when I first got it so I fit a larger washer and have not had an issue since.
