  • Can't see it anywhere, but did Bundaberg do a double sars, or am I going a bit mad?

If it isn't your favourite - it should be.

I see you too are a drinker with exquisite taste and culture. 🎩

Diets where it’s at. But never on special.

      • +2

yeah i only get diet ginger, diet sars and diet A&W root beer

        • +1

Yo dawg, I heard you like diet so I got some diet for your diet

        • -1

have you read that when you swallow 'diet' food/drink your body registers a need for the calories it expected but didn't get, making you more hungry to swallow more calories later ?

so if you think diet drinks are helping you lose weight, how's that working for ya … ?

          • +1

@Hangryuman: Conversely, if I drink heaps of 'normal' soft drink my apetite/calorie intake later should therefore be suppressed? I can see an Ig-Nobel Prize ahead for my thesis that drinking water is the real cause of obesity.

      • I was able to get it from Amazon in July 2024 for $28 dollars for the 24 pack. I have been waiting for that day to come around again.

    • +1

Is that good, or bad, in your opinion?! Interested to understand your reasoning.

      Most adults need 1500 - 3000 calories per day…?

      • +3

It's soft drink. It's never going to be healthy as it lacks any nutritional value. 200 calories is also around half a premium chicken salad sandwich, a much better option.

        • +9

Look. I like chicken salad sandwiches, but if I had to pick between one of these, and half a sandwich, I'd pick this unless I was literally dying of hunger… What an odd comparison.

          • +6

@BradH13: I think I'd be pissed eating only half a premium chicken salad sandwich

            • +3

@nahi11: How premium are we talking here?

          • +5

@BradH13: Is anyone going to eat the other half of that premium chicken sandwich because I'll have it if not?

        • +6

Do you ever get thirsty and think, “I could really go for half a premium chicken salad sandwich”?

        • +2

but what if the chicken had a bottle of this before hand?

        • +1

I'll have the whole sandwich and the soft drink

      • All of those calories are from sugar

    • +4

I just burnt 362 kcal in 20 mins. Better have 2 to break even…

the two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen & stupidity. the ratio of hydrogen is steadily decreasing.

  • Wimmers did a double in the olden days.

44g of sugar per serve. Wow.

    • +3

Yep - chock full of goodness.

    • +4

Coca-Cola 375ml is a little more healthy at just 39.8 grams of sugar

    • +2

I drank a 500ml energy drink single serve the other day with 85g of sugar.

      Double wow (who cares).

      • +2

        Impressive. Which one was this?

I know the rainbow sherbet Mother is about 75g (and delicious).

        • +2

          Rockstar Guava.

Yeah, no qualms about Rainbow Sherbet either.

    • Damn thats good value!

This stuff is rank. Their creaming soda on the other hand is boss.

    • +1

I very much agree on the burgundee. The best I have ever tried.

  • 0% alcohol needs to be fixed. What would go well together?

  • What does this taste like?

    • Root beer

      • Yummmmm

    • +1

surly i can't be the only one who thinks it tastes like mouthwash? stupidly bought this a few times thinking it was their Ginger Beer.

      • Trust me, you're not the only one.

        It's disgusting.

  • +2

    Not available in Bundaberg 😊

  • +1

Related but there is a episode of the ABC show "how things work" at the Bundaberg Ginger Beer factory in Bundaberg. Goes into how the brewed soft drinks like Ginger beer and Sars are made…

    https://iview.abc.net.au/show/dr-karl-s-how-things-work/seri…

    • Quite an interesting episode - its amazing the amount of work that goes into making each bottle that sells for just over $1 when on special. I think they said they produce 1 million bottles a day, so I guess its all in the volume.

  • when I was a kid, sars and icecream was popular like a coke float - glass of the soda with a scoop ball of icecream floating on the top - luxury !

I forget but I think English/Oz sars was similar to US Root Beer

    was different - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_beer vs https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarsaparilla_(drink)

but now the same from Bundaberg - 'crafted over three days using real liquorice root, sarsaparilla root, molasses and vanilla beans' - https://www.bundaberg.com/the-difference-between-root-beer-a…

  • For anyone wanting the same unit value per liter in the traditional Ginger Beer- Bundaberg Ginger Beer

It is a 24 pack (presumably 2 x 12 pack delivered). Safe and Responsible Australia Day sorted ;)

  • +1

Love me a good Sarsaparilla, reckon Bundaberg is one of the best, has a great flavor profile, notes of liquorice and vanilla with a hint of toffee caramel and spice, just a mild bitterness to give it character and a molasses tinge at the end,
