Wait a minute. Wait a minute, Doc. Ah… Are you telling me that you built a time machine… out of a DeLorean?

Great. SCOTT
My local store had stock so I ordered one.
Then bonus item appears to be OOS.Yeah saw it early this morning but didn't buy because bonus item ran out
Surely MYER is a very nice company that will send you out the free item when it comes back in stock.
No. Even certified AG LEGO stores don’t do that. Once it’s run out, it’s gone and isn’t replaced by anything. Had this happen to me just this weekend.
I saw the MYER conditions.
Oh well. This is a really nice set that should continue to increase in value.
If you're just a casual lego enthusiast, you can get clones of most lego builds that are almost identical on AliExpress for a fraction of the price. Eg https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006828086541.html
Can't agree with this enough the quality of the knockoffs are really good at the moment. My son did the alt bricks Concorde, gt40, ideas porshe recently and were they were pretty good. Do need an existing collection of bricks on the side though in case of any missing pieces. Though was a rare occurrence and the part was usually in an upcoming bag
Who needs technic when you can have technice
Who wants the Ghostbusters car when you can have the "No ghost catch bus".The one I've had my eye on is the motorized Johnny 5 Short Circuit build. Not official, but a clone from the MOC build. Gets great reviews on YouTube for the quality:

I agree, if you just enjoy lego for the fun and don't care about collecting etc then the AliExpress stuff is good enough.
Agree once assembled ours just end up covered in dust on shevles then put in a box. You really need to have a display cabinet for the big $ sets.
@sillyhead: I dust my lego regularly. Funny thing is that I dropped one on the floor (knocked it off the stand and it went flying away), had to reverse part of the building process (took hours to do just to fix the minor imperfections of the missing pieces) and a few seconds after the missing pieces were back in place. But in doing so I was able to dust it entirely. Which was hood as bring a mostly black set the dust stood out way more.
That short circuit kit looks good, The guy posing next to looks like a modern remake of Steve Guttenberg lol.
Just note that you'll most likely get less than what you bought it for if you resell.
Another option is second hand, which is sometimes free. But you do need a big collection of sorted and varied spare parts.
The Johnny 5 you mention looks like a copy of the main Lego Boost build or can be MOC'd to be closer Johnny 5. You might be able to get second hand set for less than Ali price (I was lucky to pick up a complete set for free).
I think it's actually based on this custom build which was rejected by Lego as an official set: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/f5d60fb3-cfcd-47b9-aaff-53f6…
I know, but it wasn't too different from the main Boost model.
@ihbh: If you're talking about this one then sorry I don't see it being similar at all, it's very different: https://robotics.benedettelli.com/product/lego-boost-johnny5…
Which is a stolen design. The whole point of Lego ideas, is that the designer gets credit and proceeds from their designs.
Buying failed Lego ideas designs from Ali etc is frustrating but also harmful to not just the Lego brand, but also the individual who put in their own time and effort for free to design, submit and campaign to be successful on ideas.
Any particular seller you recommend?
I can’t get on board with buying rip offs. It’s crappy and supports what I don’t like about Chinese manufacturing. They can go invent their own product and make it. Making plastic bricks is easy, putting in the ideas and engineering to develop the sets and bricks is hard.
Lego (as I understand) also manufacture in more expensive countries, including in Europe.
It’s like buying fake watches or luxury brand fashion items.
I think of it more like why spend $2000 on a cricket bat when you can buy one for $40, if all you're doing is having a bit of fun in the backyard.
To me it just shows how inflated the world's becoming, because large corporations constantly want bigger profits to buy bigger yachts. A lot of the price would also be licensing fees from others who want cream off the top. $200-$1000 for some plastic, give me a break.
I'm happy to scrape for deals anywhere and everywhere as long as quality is just as good, in true OzBargain fashion. I'm no snob when it comes to a deal.
oiut of stock everywhere NSW
Need to travel back in time to when they had stock.
You'll need a Delorean first but it's OOS. Catch 22.
