    It's not the best.

    • What’s the best in your humble opinion?

Hellmann's and Best Foods is basically the same product. They're just sold in different markets in the United States. If you did a blind taste test you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.

          • @beltdrive:

            I can taste the difference.

            • @jv: No you can't.

              • @beltdrive: I already have.

                • @jv: Have you done a blind test comparison?

If you've only done a sighted comparison, then the only difference you can taste is your bias.

                  • @beltdrive:

No need to. I can taste the difference.

                    • @jv: Wrong, you can't.

                      • @beltdrive: I already have.

The Best Foods one tastes noticeably saltier. I prefer the Hellmann's one.

                        • @jv: Actually, you can't tell the difference.

                          • @beltdrive: Maybe you can't. But I can..

                            • @jv: No you can't.

I can tell which one tastes of more salt.

@beltdrive: the ingredients are similar but there's.5% more egg in Hellmans, it has more mustard & less lemon juice.

so quite possible a refined connoisseur JV who being a Collingwood supporter has no teeth to get into the way of his taste buds, so conceivably could tell the difference.

                • @M00Cow:

so conceivably could tell the difference.

                  Best foods definitely tastes saltier.

                • @M00Cow: It's possible, but unless jv does a blind test, the perceived difference is going to be due to other biases (marketing, reading the nutritional information, etc.)

it's curious to me that jv focused on saltiness rather than the things you mentioned. it supposes that jv:

                  a. eats plain mayo (weird)
                  b. doesn't season their food (lol)

                  • @beltdrive:

                    eats plain mayo (weird)

I spread it on lettuce leaves like anyone else…

                    b. doesn't season their food (lol)

No, I don't add salt to my lettuce.

                    • @jv: you really ought to salt your lettuce. afraid of flavour or something?

matey my son eats mayo & Vegemite on bread/toast/pancakes. The mayo is spread on like jam or whipped cream, then the Vegemite.

So many times I've seen pancakes and I've picked up a knife which I assume has whipped cream on it to use….yuck

Eh, this is the best one I've found

        • user name checks out…

      • Agree, Hellman’s tastes the best for a widely available mayonnaise. The best I’ve tasted imho is Fancy Hanks but it’s not at the big supermarkets as far as I know.

      Kewpie for the win!

Same here. My favourite by far.

  • Thanks for listing the ingredients in the description.

    • Is the Canola GM ?

      • +5

        Probably Ford.

        • +2

          Not Tesla then…

  • go kewpie or go home

      Kewpie uses MSG

      • alien msgs or ICQ msgs?

      • +4

        that's a good thing

        • -4

Not if you are allergic to it…

      • thats what makes it taste sooo good!

    • +2

IMO it depends on what you're making. I keep both Kewpie and a jar of this or Hellmann's (whichever was on special) in the fridge

      • +1

Yeah they each have their use cases

Both are good in their right

        • I know kewpie is for eating, but what do you use hellmann's or this for?
